Already have it for free

That's funny. I already have this for free. Google Voice lets me forward unanswered calls from my AT&T phone to my Google Voice account, where they are transcribed and sent to me via text message, and also archived.

Plus I get the ability to play different voicemail messages for different callers based on whether they are listed in my contacts and, if so, under what group.

Carriers should stop trying to provide every possible service for a fee. Give us a reliable connection at a reasonable price, period. Let voicemail services, web services, call forwarding services, email services, etc etc, compete against one another in an open market. You can't possibly do better than that with your proprietary services.

yeah i have this service with google voice as well. Google voice never gets it right tho the text messages make no sense usually theyre random words in attempt to read what the voicemail said.

I especially enjoy those text messages. I've once had "Hey, what's up man, where you at?" transcribed to "If you can a modicum (??) please have the baby." Don't even wanna know what the hell a modicum is.

Alltel had the same thing and it was really bad it would mess up words because of accents in voices I used to work for alltel and i wouldn't even take that as something they gave me for free!

I have it for free as well with Youmail. It works great, the vast majority of the transcriptions are accurate even when people speak as if they had a mouth full of gravel.
