LG is offering their first netbook on AT&T. As a consumer that reads phone forums, I am aware of AT&T's tattered network. Most consumers are not as up to date with the known issues via forums. So my question is:

Is LG not aware of AT&T's network issues? If so, Why would they offer their first netbook through AT&T? Would this not somewhat chance a reputation of negative aspects of the product in the eyes of a consumer? AT&T's network can't handle the bandwidth usage now. Isn't another bandwitdh hog device such as a netbook going to hurt the network even more?

If I was going to launch a first ever for my company, I certainly would want it on a more stable enviroment to better reflect my product.

The iphone is a device that people ha...

Oh, you people and your hyperbolic statements about AT&T. Almost everyone I know - all over the country has AT&T, and I haven't heard complaints. On the contrary, a few of my friends are waiting for their contracts to end to switch over.

I don't get all the hate. None of the speed issues, service issues, etc. have ever been a problem anywhere I've been.

I get it may be less desirable in other areas I haven't gone - but that's true for any carrier.

Using hyperbole to emphasize a point is like using the Availability Heuristic to do the same. Your test sample of "everyone you know" may not accurately represent everyone using the AT&T Network. I don't know if its hate som much as frustration, but there does seem to be something to the network issues. As for why LG made this decision? Who knows? Cost? Perhaps other carriers weren't interested? Just not sure.

I already said that it may not be accurate. However, going around the country and at one point out of it - I have never had a problem with it. And again, my friends are mostly in college or fresh out - they're all over the country at the moment. And again, not a problem.

Exaggeration? I feel this is a good question not only by me, but constituents of business and pleasure. Since I am not a rep or an affiliate of any carrier, I have nothing to lose or gain by such posts. I need to ask this question. Since netbooks are growing more popular and use more bandwidth, and the iphone is tearing the network apart, A consumer needs to know how a device of this nature will have an effect on the network as well. Current events of reviews of many, have indeed recorded a substantial amount of displeasure of AT&T's network.

I understand certain areas may be exempt, But as a whole, not so well.

You do realize that people who are unhappy tend to talk about things more than those that are happy? Something like 10 happy customers will tell 1 person their experience and 1 unhappy person will tell 10 people theirs in general. Just because people bitch doesn't mean they're accurate.

They are accurate with their opinion of the network quality. I tell everyone how happy I am with my carrier. And I also tell people that are in my area not to get the service that has no coverage in the area we are located in. I do it to look out for people so they won't go through the same frustration as I had to go through. People do things for different reasons.

AT&T has somewhere in the neighborhood of 80 million customers (correct me if I'm wrong)...if the coverage was as bad as people make it sound on forums the number would be decreasing rather than increasing. In my opinion the network issues must be exaggerated.

However, with the position that AT&T is in I do feel that people who do have issues feel like more should be done to correct them.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves; yeah, AT&T's network is adequate. But the millions of adds they've had lately have been due to the iPhone, not the network.

It just depends on the area. Since AT&T bought a lot of companies they got their customers and when they got their customers and put them on AT&T's network they do have problems. That is why a lot of them have complained. It's not exaggeration, it is frustration. I have learned this the hard way.

In a LOT of parts of the country AT&T's network is excellent. If you're planning on using it where you have mostly AT&T 3G coverage why not get it? Their network is faster than Verizon's.

Theoretically it's faster. But yes, AT&T's network is good in spots, just like every other network is good in spots. No need for any of the exaggeration or hyperbole. If you get great coverage where you live, go for it.

I think you'd be surprised how much netbooks don't get sold as it is, and the one's that do don't really max out the bandwidth because surfing is point and click done.

Whereas some devices are constantly dynamically pinging the netowrk and draining resources completely unnecessarily.

I wouldn't describe AT&T's network as "tattered". Tmobile's network is tattered. AT&T's network is...overwhelmed. They've got a good network; they just didn't plan for the smartphone (i.e. iPhone) explosion. From what I've read, AT&T is furiously working on adding bandwidth. They're not just going to roll over and die for Verizon.
