Why the hell do they think they are worth that much? YOU ARE LEACHING OFF OUR NETWORK IF WE SAY YOU ARE 24 DOLLARS THEN DAMMIT YOU ARE 24 DOLLARS!!! The only reason sprint is buying you out is because you arseholes keep suing. We are doing you a favor by helping to keep you employed cause at this rate your gonna go bankrupt from losing law suits to your parent company affiliate my arse

There is no leeching involved. The iPCS network is wholly owned and operated by iPCS, not Sprint. And last I checked, iPCS is in a far better financial position than Sprint.

As far as wanting more for the shares...If you paid 45 dollars for a share of something, and were bing forced to sell it for 24, wouldn't you try your hardest to make your initial investment back?

Sprint was initially sued by Horizon(who has since been acquired by iPCS) for forcing to take sub-prime customers on with no deposit, and then be left with the loss when the customer never paid their bill. They were then sued by iPCS because of wording that they(Sprint) had placed in the original Affiliate agreement. Had the botched acquisition on Nextel not taken place.....

Sprint is attempting to buy iPCS because its cheaper to buy them than pay for all of the lawsuits that they have been going through.

It doesn't matter what they paid for the shares. What matters is what they are worth.

Last time I checked you guys soldour products and services and leased our spectrum... ☚ī¸ Soooo... How are you owned and operated independantly? Further more if they are in better financial status then why not buy out Sprint? *waits for a witty retort* Just as I thought as you were people the angry IPCS Rep has left to go seek employment for a real wireless provider thank you for your time 😈

iPCS leases the spectrum and the right to use the Sprint name but that is it. iPCS owns the towers, the equipment and has its own set of engineers to design and develop the network. They are pretty much independent of Sprint aside from using the spectrum and paying Sprint to provide CS and billing.

Sprint had to lease the spectrum or they were going to lose it as they had no plans to build a network in the places iPCS serves. iPCS is actually making money and adding customers which I think is what the previous poster was getting at as to the financial health.

This also isn't iPCS demanding more money but one shareholder so don't take it out on iPCS. Timothy Yager actually seems to be alright with $24 per share.

My pro iPCS sta...

Do you feel better now that thats off your chest sir? Cause I am a care rep at Sprint I gurantee you that I know more about Network Infrastructure, how towers work and all that other BS you talking IPCS can do that cause they have 1/16th of the customers sprint has probably less so do your math before you run your popsicle licker ok? also its great that they are adding customers in a small region get at me when they reach the Millions playa. Not gonna happen not enough market share a few states and cities cant compare to nationwide coverage with over 50 million subs you think I'm gonna go to the sticks of Indiana to subscribe in IPCS so I can use sprint's Nationwide Coverage to roam? Also why do they have all of sprint's old plans and phones...

first off your punctuation sucks. second i agree with you in the part, how are they there own if everything they damn near do is off another carrier? third I don't know where you got fanboy from. He doesn't even sound like a fanboy. He was just simply answering the questions and giving logic on why they would want their money back on the shares the shareholders bought. So you kind of went over your head on talking about oh boy but the other part I agree with you on. 😉

As a former employee of a Sprint PCS affiliate (one which was smart enough to get out of the Sprint came before they're shares dropped to $24 as well), it's pretty clear you have no understanding of the Sprint affiliate program.

1.) As the previous poster stated, Sprint needed a method to build out a network quickly to make use of it's available spectrum. Without their own resources to efficiently, keyword there is efficiently, build out themselves, they started the affiliate program, which gave birth to essentially small rural carriers operating under the sprint brand name, think franchise. Affiliates owned and operated customer service call centers, billing centers, network buildout, stores, personnel, etc, etc.

2.) Just because the...

I worked briefly for the ONLY other (current) sprint affiliate. I don't claim be be an expert but I got a look at their renegotiated agreement with sprint after the nextel merger. Ipcs was referred to as a glorified holding company. If i was a rural telecom i'd be thrilled with it...

I'm sure there was an offer at some point. They did buy out the 13 other affiliates. I can only conclude they didn't like the price and then sued, and sued...

Guess what, sprint wrote off the entire nextel acquisition, hemorrhaged customers for years and now is worth less money. Assuming ipcs didn't roll out the 3g network upgrades or invest in more towers, its worth less now to sprint.

From a technical standpoint sprint could sign a limited ...

That's interesting but makes perfect sense. As another poster said, it's only one shareholder protesting so far, and look at that, it's a financial instutition. They probably didn't get enough bailout money.

In my opinion Sprint killed itself with the Nextel acquisition. Too short sighted. They wanted all that ARPU that Nextel had, but didn't seem to realize that Nextel was at it's breaking point or didn't care.

The affiliates ran strong companies and most of them got out at the perfect time. Most of the shareholders of those companies would agree... from their brand new boats they bought.

No doubt. The Nextel acquisition cost them LOTS of bucks. They had to buy off all of those affiliates and the footprints for each company were similar. Alltel would have made way more sense.
