What i dont understand is if AT&T coverage is that bad for people out west or down south then why are you still with them? Pay the early termination and switch back to Verizon! I just don't understand why people would pay for service that don't work and just come on here and bitch about a bad service! If it really is that bad then switch! Here in Upstate NY my phone works great... No problems! The way I look at this is im not Loyal to any company! Who ever works is who i give my Business with! The way some people on here are making it sound they cant use there phone at all...so if thats the case keep the iPhone use it on wifi and go back to Verizon...

It is because people are morons. They would rather complain then do something about it.

It has nothing to do with being a moron or complaining...though the only option some may feel they have is to complain. Maybe, if all the planets align and the moon is full...someday ATT will step up and give us the coverage we want (and can get with another carrier).

Sadly, the lure and attachment to the iPhone for the several I have on my account make it somewhat difficult to just up and leave.

There is no other "smart" phone, that I know of (and I have tried MANY) that will synch with iTunes, synch with my Mac so I can get my contacts and calendars. I think we might look at the BBs with VXW this weekend, since the new software for Macs just came out.

There are tons of very nice, functional phones out there...I am not trying to ...

I feel for you. This is why we play with things and research things before we buy things. Sometimes I think people who knew about AT&T's network bought the iphone anyway with hopes that it would fix the issues. Unfortunately, there is no app for that.

Very very true.....and I dd do quite a bit of testing. Ported to ATT for original iPhone.....bailed back to VZW. Also tried the E90 for awhile on ATT. Always loved the iPhone, but the original was just not cutting it for me. July of 08, kid was back from college....we took the plunge on the 3G, added lines, moved....it was "good" while it lasted, it really was. Yes....I honestly buy the line that I gave up haveing a better network for the pho...

You are so right!!! I've been fighting with ATT for what seems like forever....I lose all signal from time to time just sitting where I work outside DC. If I go up to my house, 2 miles away, works just fine. They keep telling me it is Apple's issue with the iPhone.....I try to apply logic (big mistake) and explain that there is no hardware issue that will make a phone not work in one georgraphical area......I even used the phrase "There's a map for that" numerous times.

ATT sucks big time....I have laid the groundowrk to move off three iPhones and go to VZW. Granted, I'll likely lose on the ETF thing....but I'll make them work for ...

@Vipermad,

Seems like the problem may stem from having a mac in your home. They are know to interfere with higher order neurons that control spending [you mentioned multiple iphones on your account 🙂 ]. Unfortunately, I fear that your condition is worsening as you contemplating joining the (other) dark side called verizon.

I have some ideas for you to try :
a)get rid of your mac, cancle your itunes account. Consider Ubuntu or some other linux distro (atleast for a while)

b) To help your reception problems, you might see and improvement if you perform an animal sacrifice at the entrance of the closest at&t corporate store -- I personally recommend a lamb or goat . If you still have reception problems afterwards, then consider...

I had the same problem when I tried AT&T (didn't have the iPhone though). Their coverage just blows. If you want great coverage, lots of 3G coverage too and awesome voice quality, go to Verizon. I've been with them for years and have no complaints. But now that Verizon has the Droid anyone who's hooked on the iPhone has somethings similar, actually better if you ask me. The Droid rocks and I plan on getting one when my upgrate date comes around.

I don't care how cool the iPhone is, what good is it if the network its on sucks?

You are 100% correct about it not mattering how cool/good the iPhone is when it is anchored to a crappy network...but I am kinda stuck for now. Nothing to do with ETF or contracts.....I just have to ween theothers off their iPhones. 🙂

I disagree that the Droid is better, though...but I continue to investigate and keep my mind open. Every time I have to go to the mall to get ATT to fix something...I always stop in VZW and play with the phones I believe could possibly replace my trusty iPhone. Yesterday was one of those days.

I actually liked the Eris better than the droid, overall. Sadly, all of the VZW phones load web pages slower than my iPhone (I know they love it in the stores when I stand there for a while and do side-by-side t...

The Eris is a little slower than the Motorola DROID. Try the Moto. It has a faster processor and doesn't have any other software overlaying it like the Eris does. HTC put SenseUI on it and it does make the software look more attractive but it slows it down. The Moto Droid has the stock Droid software but it has the new 2.0 and no overlaying software, faster processor, making the device faster. It also has WiFi so if 3G isn't fast enough for ya, use a broadband cable connection.

Yes. There is a map for that. You look under Verizon and Sprint's coverage area. 😁
