Verizon Responds to AT&T Suit, Calls It 'Meritless'

What about that other data network I have on my phone, EDGE... I keep reading that it is comparable, even faster than some of the network that Verizon uses... Is there any truth to this?

When i'm at my house in the California Foothills (Sonora is the city) I get EDGE speed internet. It's not super fast but my experience with Verizon was horrible out there. Granted Verizon only covers Sonora because of a 3rd party agreement with a local carrier in that area. The Verizon associate I spoke with stated that Rev. 0 is a 3G service and that AT&T's EDGE service isn't 3G. If Rev. 0 is in fact a 3G service and EDGE is an older technology, why would Verizon boast if AT&T's second rate network is actually faster than Rev. 0?

The blue portion of the map is Verizon's broadband coverage and is EV-DO Rev. A. The yellow portion is Extended Broadband coverage (not provided by Verizon) and might be Rev. A or Rev. 0. Even if one compares just Verizon's native Broadband coverage clearly it dwarfs AT&T's 3G.
