First of all, I work for a retailer that sells verizon, at&t, and sprint. Here is the true breakdown.
62% of at&t's total US coverage is 3g
47% of verizon total US coverage is 3g
99% of sprint's total US Coverage is 3g, and 14% of their coverage is 4g compatable.

What is even worse is when I was in katanaing PA, I was getting more roaming verizon coverage then my fiance was with her verizon phone, my pre had 5 bars roaming her ENv2 had 3. At&t has more 3g coverage and it is faster, however verizon has more 2g coverage.

Verizon is being slammed by the fed government on 2 occasions.
1.) Claiming their entire map is 3g(which is false) and that the fact their map has 1 solid color indicating full coverage when they do not. Falsifyin...

Verizon can care less about Sprint. Verizon is laughing at Sprint, cause they know they are one short stick from going out of business. So Sprint is no concern of Verizon.

Was this a prank thread lol. 🙄

actually sprint is doing very well better off in the stocks then verizon is. Verizon knows if they go after sprint its gg. Sprint has a much faster network the same if not slightly better coverage. Customer service is great and they are cheaper by alot

the same if not slighty better coverage?? have you recently checked out their coverage map on their website? now faster they may be, mostly due to vamping up their city cell sites but they don't have that same speed throughout their network.

CDMA2000 (National Access or 1x) IS 3G. Verizon doesn't make this up. The 3G forum does. So yeah, their entire network is 3G. The entire network is not EV-DO certainly, but I don't think they ever specified which 3G in the commercials.

By the way, I don't recall anyone even bothering to mention sprint in the conversation. Why are you doing it? Why would Verizon attack its little brother who uses the EXACT SAME TECHNOLOGY?

Very well put.....the ad campaign is a strategic move by Verizon to eat into the core base of Iphone users. Period. Everyone knows the issues the Iphone has been having, and as more and more people move to it the issues compound and mulitply. Smart ad campaign, and damn funny too. I, by no means, am a fan of Verizon or the way the advertise their coverage maps, but you can't argue with the map they put up for AT&T. Facts are the facts.

On this front, Sprint is not Verizon's target.

When Sprint gets Eighty million customers and a flagship device which pulls in 3.2 million new customers in a quarter THEN maybe verizon will target them. Until then...it would be a waste of resources. The iphone is THE threat. I believe the best way to neutralize it is to get it. Verizon cannot right now so this ad blitz is the next best thing.

sprint has grown in the past 3 years after acquiring nextel more then any other wireless company. I work for a retailer that sells Verizon, at&t, and sprint. Since I've started sprint has been the top seller. They have full 3G across the board. Do your homework. Neither verizon or at&t are even half 3G. Was sprint always on top? Hell no they sucked b4 restructuring. Sprint has been awarded number 1 since 2007.

their network is faster, I see better roaming coverage from verizon then verizons own users. That seems sad. Sprint has also surpassed verizon in customer service. Sprint was horrible now they are pretty good. Verizon has lost ALOT of customer loss in 2009 check the charts.

also verizon's coverage map is under attack by the gove...

No. YOU do YOUR homework. Verizon has 1x a.k.a. National Access or CDMA 2000 which is the slower 3G and EV-DO Rev. A. Both are by definition 3G technologies.

I am years out of the cellular/wireless industry, but I can't help but notice and comment on your reference to Sprint being Verizon's little brother who uses the same technology...

It might be subjective as to how Sprint is doing and whether they will survive, but Sprint was around using CDMA when Verizon was still Bell Atlantic Mobile using primarily analog signals. Bell Atlantic had a horrible reputation for customer service so, like First Union who kept Wachovia's good name, Bell Atlantic decided they needed a new name to hide their history. Thus, Verizon was born.

I know this because I worked for GTE Wireless before we were bought by Bell Atlantic Mobile. The changes were drastic. Verizon might be a great company now with great cov...

Perhaps Sprint could stand a name change to escape their horrible past relating to customer service? We have two companies both using CDMA technology and Verizon Wireless is the larger of the two by far. Yep, I am going to call them the little brother of the two relating to SIZE not AGE. Enough said.

How do you figure that AT&T has more 3G than Verizon? I mean really! I even had AT&T before so not only do I have maps but I have personal experience with poor 3G with AT&T. Verizon definatly has more 3G.

And if 62% of AT&T's coverage is 3G than their total coverage must really suck! No matter what the percent is, Verizon covers more areas that AT&T by a long shot.

Alot of people are trying to add the 1x to the matter. If you look at Verizon's map you'll see that there is VERY FEW areas that has just regular 1x service, it's mostly 3G (EVDO)

The point of the suit is that when I watch the commercials, it looks to me that verizon is saying that if you don't have AT&T 3G then you can't do anything on your phone, which is ludacris. The latest commercial depicts a guy browsing on his phone, showing an AT&T 3G map, and it looks to me that its saying that if you don't have 3G you won't be able to do anything with your AT&T phone, which is false advertising by Verizon.

no! You have no sense of the point of the commercial. Go back to 3rd grade.

its obvious that if you (the Verizon user) are wondering why you can reliably surf web data all over the place, well there is a Map for that. Meaning: the Verizon data coverage is so good all over the map, that you can surf fast and reliably. Meanwhile the guy with the iPhone cant load his pages cause no coverage.

Stop crying here all you iPhone users accept the fact you bought an awesome phone on a horrible network just so you can have an awesome phone. Its just buying a Ferrari or Porsche and throwing crappy twenty dollar tires on it. Hey who cares that your fancy car cant perform now. Its all image as you slowly drive down the boulevard. but if you pay attention its not showing anybody standing in the middle of a city not being able to do anything on their iphone. every carrier has mostly great coverage around cities (again mostly). most of the commericals are depicting all of the areas they don't have coverage and showing you what its like for that particular iphone user in one of "those" areas.

It does! I have endured (and I truly, truly mean that) ATT for the sake of having the iPhone (several on my account). I am at the end of the line, though. I am on the phone with ATT more than anyone else in the world. They had the nerve to tell me that they have only been getting service related issues for the iPhone...no other phones on their network are giving them problems.

Hmmmm.....phone stops working where I am standing (no signal....goes from 3G to E to roaming, to searching....), but if I go home (2 miles away) it works fine...sounds hardware related....NOT. I told the under-educated individual ther...

"lastly, screw obama for setting sprints budget to low that they have to lay off 2500 people. Spring was going to take a huge expense with the everything data mobile plan, but obama but in a budget for them after they did this and the only way to save the 350 million dollars or be sued, is to lay off 2500 people.
GG
steve"

President Obama has absolutely NOTHING to do with Sprint laying off 2500 employees. Sprint has been bleeding customers for a while, and they have been restructuring for a while, Sprint had a bad CEO. Sprints going on's having nothing to do with Obama. Now come down to reality.
