In this corner a company with far less 3g coverage sporting an Iphone, and in this corner a company with boring phones trying to catch up with the iphone but has great 3g coverage. Now America Are You Ready.... I said Are You Ready? Let's Get Ready Tooooooo Rumble...! 😎

I know they are new to the market, but the Droid and Droid Eris are both very exciting phones that Verizon offers. With those phones having better capabilities (in many aspects, but not all) than the iPhone and the undisputed better network to use them on...I don't see much of Rumble happening. AT&T just has to continue hoping for consumer loyalty.

Uh-huh. Here we go with this again. I don't know what the Droid or Droid Enis can do that the iphone cannot. I don't care either. Those phones are above my head. That's right. I'm not a techie. or a phone geek or phone nerd. I want an iphone and I don't want to nor will I go to AT&T to get it. Enough with the insults against the iphone. This is AT&T versus Verizon. Network to network. Leave the iphone alone.

An Eris is no more difficult to use than an iPhone is, so I don't know where this idea that it (or any Droid phone, for that matter) is difficult for anyone aside from techies to use. And Android has far more potential than iPhone ever will, because it's less restrictive and gives people the freedom to choose from a variety of devices and do a lot to make them THEIR devices, rather than what Apple wants their devices to be.

And please don't misconstrue my message as an insult on the iPhone. It has sustained AT&T and hurt Verizon, but it is far perfect. My message was mostly in response to the original message saying that Verizon had only boring phones as their selection. The Droid or the iPhone, either way, good phone...difference being the network with which to use them on, and trust me, that $30/month for data usage is much better spent when you can actually use your phone.

My apologies. I do not care about all that other jazz. All I know is that Verizon should get the iphone IN ADDITION to those other handsets that they are dropping (releasing for you egghead types) such as the Droid, Droid Enis, V Phone V1...

I would love for Verizon to get the iPhone, but I doubt it will happen. I think AT&T is going to hit the negotiating table hard with Apple to renew their exclusive contract, and Verizon may not be willing to pony up the dough that Apple gets from AT&T for each iPhone sold. Also, not having a technician being able to look at or diagnose any issues you have with your iPhone might be a problem for Verizon too. With iPhone, you have to send back to Apple or Apple Store for replacement. No insurance available if damaged is also not very cool, as I see many people with damaged phones under non-warranty situations.
Not trying to sell you away from the iPhone, but these are all things that most people don't consider until it is too late.

I don't know why the technician thing would be a deal killer. Techs cannot open up phones anyway. Verizon does not even NEED techs. In some regions they are phasing out techs and just having customer support reps do CLNR exchanges and software updates. Trust me I know ALL the reasons why a person should not get the iphone. I worked for Verizon and it was my job to talk up VZWs offerings when customers asked about the iphone. Propaganda aside... I still want the phone to be available as an option if nothing else. Verizon customers should have the ability to choose the phone without porting out to AT&T.

Very true...options are always nice. With that said, keep your own options open and check out the Android OS on the phones. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

If you all want an awesome Android handset, wait till February and get the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10a, sorry again VZW, this awesome phone will also only be available to AT&T and T-Mobile customers.

Ok. So would you like to have an iPhone(which to me is the stupidest phone ever thought of) on a network that does not have good coverage which basically means that you will not be able to use your so called "cool" phone.
OR
would you like to have a simple phone(not necessarily boring but if your into having a phone that can basically do everything else besides text and calls) on a network that has excellent coverage.

you choose? 😎

We want it ALL! An iphone on Verizon. We will not stop demanding it either. Verizon needs to understand that besides the persons porting out to AT&T to own the iphone there are those of us who are NOT porting out but still want the iphone. The best way to impress upon them that no other phone will do is to refuse to upgrade (lock ourselves in for two more years). We have more clout as free agents.

exactly! Since that isn't an option you can't really choose that. Once Verizon gets the iphone then there will be no problem. But if you were to unlock the iphone and go to Verizon then AT&T would lose all its customers since that is the only thing holding them up.
