AT&T Publishes Public Letter Refuting Verizon Wireless Ads
The Map is what made me switch
Anyway I sat beside my brother with our WM phones and we both downloaded something from Youtube. His streamed seamlessly (Verizon) while mine kept stopping to buffer(AT&T). I am a data heavy user and if I am going to pay all that money I might as well have the best service and speeds. The map says it all. There is no way you can refute it. Edge speeds was ok, but its like dial up compared to what I am getting now. And this is...

I live in the Greenville-Spartanburg area and here ATT has 3G in addition to Columbia, Charleston, and Murtle Beach.
I have been with Verizon since Sept 2001, and I am well pleased with it.
Just look at the SC verizon's 3G map and the ATT's 3G map of this state and there is no comparison in 3G, although the voice/EDGE (2.5G) is very close to verizon 3G only MAP!!! WHY WOULD YOU SETTLE FOR LESS??? Why worry about driving from big city a to big city b and be satisfied with 2.5G when one really has to try very hard to find somewhere here in SC where Verizon has 2.5G instead of 3G (EVDO).
It was not always like this. About 2 yrs ago Verizon's 3G map looked like ATT's current 3G map - along only the major ...

I have not seen any improvements since the Alltel merger. Perhaps there was not much room for improvement. Sort of like Rush Limbaugh's claim that he is 98.6% correct and after being on the air for 20 yrs how can a few correct or incorrect comments change his 20 yr average. 🤣
It's called a PRL list... Preferred Roaming List.
You're phone does not pickup VZW towers not in that list, so you can not just "force it". It is designated to only pickup towers Sprint has deemed outside their native coverage, and maybe not even first. They might have another local company higher up in the list.
PRL is preferred roaming list which has a list of towers that is designated to pick up towers from CDMA towers such as verizon, alltel, cellular one, metropcs, so on and so on, canada and mexico, isreal and others are too in that list that has MAJORITY if not ALL the towers of that carrier participating in roaming. data roaming works the same way, whereever there is for example alltel evdo in the boonies of alabama, then sprint too will have evdo and vise-versa for alltel customers as per the agreement between the two of FULL access to evdo servi...

First, lets skip all the PRL editing/hacking or any other tricks that are beyond the average customers abilities. Its not supported by the carrier, so therefore its not a carrier option to tout.
Forcing roam does not override the PRL. MrCool misused the term native coverage, as that is a bit of an unfair assumption. The phone searches for all signals, and uses whichever one is the highest priority, regardless if its weak or strong. Also, some SIDs/towers are set to negative, which means the phone will not use them regardless if its the only option. So to say that Sprint can use any Alltel/VZW tower is not accurate.
I know VZW is very tight on their PRL choices and sprint is ...

Mobile to mobile DOES NOT WORK while roaming, you can be cut from the network for over 800 min roaming, and they do not roam on EVDO, only 1xrtt, unless they had roaming agreements with old alltel that are still in place.
NO national carrier allows free M2M while roaming- so what?
Roam too much on any carrier and they will cut you. Sprint just merely outlines for their customers how much rather than leaving it up to their own discretion.
