ATT, why not make a rebuttal commercial showing you coverage maps and that you do get voice service in most of the US. VZ's commericals are not misleading. They clearly state 3g coverage and displaying their advantage. Its time for ATT to step up its game. Its marketing has been abysmal and they have been playing follow the leader with VZ for too long. Why not create your own witty and cunning marketing plan, make up your own price plans, and beef up your coverage to reflect being a top tier carrier. The way its looking, ATT is going to have a tough time after the iPhone exclusivity is gone. They might have to go through a period of decline like Sprint did before they get the point.

What facts back up what you state? None I assume since your post is based on opinion rather than fact. Do you know any SBC employees that worked for marketing? Do you know any AT&T marketing employees? Probably not.

Because the lawsuit is cheaper. Besides, they really can't make an effective rebuttal. Do you know what it would be like saying? Our 3G coverage IS less than Verizon's but not by that much. And it's faster...ummmm...where we have it and as long as there are not too many users at the time. No. Realistically, unless they can build out their network, a commercial would be a horrible idea.

Verizon's commercials ARE misleading because they show someone with an AT&T device unable to get online at all. You don't need 3G to get online. That's false advertising.

Just did a little research and it looks like VZ is passing their 1x off as 3g. Technically it can qualify for 3G if the data speeds are above 144kit/s but everybody considers this to be 2.5G or 2.75G. Looks like ATT has a real bone to pick with them b/c they chose to classify EDGE correctly at 2.5G when it clearly could be classified as 3G. This is a little underhanded by VZ but all ATT needs to do is release a commercial and state "using VZ's classifications here is our 3G network". Then everything should be cool right? I was wrong on this one BUT ATT seems to have lost its edge. They seem to follow VZ instead of getting creative and doing something new and out the box. It shows with their bland marketing to handset choices of late. ...

The Verizon Wireless 3G claims DO NOT include 1x. Verizon Wireless is comparing EVDO Rev A. network to AT&T's 3G. The 1X map would show even more coverage then the ones displayed on the commercials.

The map that Vzw is advertising it not all RevA. Most of it is EVDO which is more comperable to EDGE than AT&T'S UMTS/HSPA in terms of speed.

EVDO is Rev A. Verizon upgraded their native network to EVDO RevA before they aquired alltel, then they did the same for the alltell network. While there are still some areas that are EVDO Rev0, these are quickly diminishing and make up a very small fraction of the map shown.

1xrtt is comparable to Edge

1x (National Access) IS 3G. Verizon doesn't define it.
