Yep. The MiFi is not unique. Data cards have been capable of being used with routers long before Novatel launched MiFi for Sprint and Verizon. It is just that the MiFi makes it easier and carriers support it.

It is unique in the fact mifi works with one click. Turning an aircard into a WLAN through an ad hoc network takes a lot of work and does not work depending on carrier/phone/plan/services being used. This phone blows you away and you know it.

Really? I thought you have to have the kinds of speeds that Clear has for online gaming?

No. Cable modems are faster than rev A. data cards or phones.

I'm not minimizing the phone or MiFi for that matter.

I use a cradle point on my sprint usb card, sure a bit more expensive but no contract extension and it works with any brand, any carrier and many phones as well. Also can double as a router if your home wifi unit goes down. And the signal is stronger then Mifi's, and longer distance.

ONLY Clear has speeds sufficient enough for online gaming.

I use xbox live on a dsl connection with 768k maximum download speed and far less than that for upload. Verizon's revA provides download speeds of between 800k and 1.4mbs with uploads speeds over 600k. Looks like an aircard would actually be faster than my landline connection. Tell me how that wouldn't work for online gaming?

Not taking into account a 5GB data cap. We're discussing speed, not allowance.

True, I'm sure with that data limit, gaming would eat away at it fast.

So i am curious clear doesn't have a cap on 4g correct? If that is the case I could hook up my PS3 in my vehicle and have my homies play Modern Warfare while mobbin thru the Vegas Strip. Come on kids were moving to Vegas!

Yep, that's right, no evil data limit! I've used over 35gb's so far, and my billing cycle doesn't end until the 15th. So another words, I'm getting my $40 worth out of Clear!!!! I watch Hulu, yeah, yeah!!!!

Actually for games like Wow, a verizon modem will work rather well. no, you won't have 0 ping, but it will only be 150ms or so, and the upstream is strong enough to support information exchange.

it's not like fios, but it's better than most DSL.

The reason 4g is the "only solution for mobile gaming" is the data cap more than anything. 😛
