By giving mid range price phones some similarities of smartphones then it will only force smartphone makers to innovate even more and come up with some more break through design or tech.

I like Samsung phones, if Samsung made a phone that's a lot like Verizon's Rogue for ATT with the addition of MobileTv I'd probably buy it.
3inc touchscreen, 3.5mm jack, 3-5mp camera, slideout keyboard, and mobiletv. I've had my N95 for 2yrs now, and really there are only 2 features my phone doesn't have that I'd really like, a slideout keyboard, and mobiletv would be really nice. I'm a really, really bored security guard, and I think MobileTv would really help me get through my shift a lot easier.

Yet another new OS, especially one coming from a specific phone OEM, will have a hard time being adopted by other OEMs.
