So as I sit here writing this and anxious people are waiting in line for the Droid, Verizon doubles their tethering cost for the Droid for unsuspecting subscribers ready to sign.

Let's see here:
Verizon revenues down almost 20
percent.

Verizon draws huge attention to their network size compared to the number 2 carrier.

Verizon announces major hype on new devices.

Verizon doubles tethering rates as customers wait in line for new hyped device.

Verizon doubles ETF on hyped device and Smartphones.

No one can possibly justify how this looks. Bait and jail. Can you hear me now?

I feel very confident with my choice in staying with Sprint as my carrier.

I really dont see the problem as long as there is choices.

I dont care that verizon has done all that, Hell Im with Sprint. 😎

If Sprint decided to jack their prices up 30% It would more then likely not be retro-active on contracts prior to that date, and as soon as my contract is over I will leave.

People we have choices so why the b!tching? Unless a company enforces a rule and backdates it then I would see why people would throw and fit.

VZW did not, and is not retro-actively introducing the $350 etf for those who sign before the date. if they did, they would be committing a breach of contract and change in TOS, which means you can say bye bye with them and do what you want w...

Get your facts straight. The tethering option is the same cost for the Droid as it is for any other PDA/BlackBerry/Smartphone.

Not much. A long time ago. Verizon only offered a $44.99 data plan. They offered tethering for $15. Then they rolled out the $29.99 Email and Web plan. The tethering option MEANT for this particular plan was the $30 tethering option. They called these Broadband Access connect initially. What happened was some existing customers with the $44.99 data plan changed it to the $29.99 Email and Web plan and were able to KEEP the $15 Tethering option. They were never supposed to. Anyone tethering is supposed to pay the same as someone with a data card in total data cost...$59.99 Nothing has changed. Verizon closed the loophole with the Email and Web plan after realizing that a few reps were calling existing customers and getting them to ...

Tethering on any smartphone/pda on verizon's network: $30

The ONLY exception to this is if you have an Enterprise service (like BES). Since you are already paying $45 for data, tethering is $15.

Smartphone + tethering always is 60.

If someone thought they were getting tethering for 15, they never talked to a rep about it, or read up on it from Verizon's website.

Advanced device ETF not in effect yet, so Droid customers in line only have to deal with the $175 etf.

And even with their revenues down, they still remain profitable without having to sell off their network to do so.

If sprint works for you, great. But don't get defensive when someone (digitmasher) pointed out the obvious.
