? 2006 ? I don't follow your comment.. UI customization has been unlocked on Verizon for almost 3 years now

I just came back to Verizon. When I had them a few years ago, all of the non-smartphone phones had Verizon's own UI on them. It just seems rare that a phone that's not Windows Mobile, Palm or BlackBerry doesn't have that same "crippling".

fair enough. The low end phones are still boring UI, but most of the mid and all of the high end offer various customization options for sometime now.
