for the same price they can get a device with 3 mega pixel camera with no flash. a device that doesn't multitask. a device with a locked OS as opposed to the open platform that is Android?? Personally I wouldn't pay 50 bucks for an Iphone.

How about 99? Because a lot of people do. I'm just saying, but not saying it that way.

🤣 True and as an AT&T employee I see first hand that many people want the IPhone at least until they get their first bill. Its not for me, doesn't really have all the capabilities I would want or need. The best thing about the tech world we live in these days is that newer and better phones are coming out all the time. The IPhone is the IT phone, but not necessarily the best. Being popular doesn't make it the best, fastest, or most innovative. It does however make it a good money maker. So good for Apple and AT&T. And as far as the future of Android on Verizon. Good for them and good for me. 😁

Good for everyone. Having a positive attitude is great, just like having a drink after work is fantastic.

That's your loss, the iPhone is a better platform by far than Android- a better web browser, media player, and interface with none of the lag. Oh, but Android is an "open platform." Awesome!

And the iPhone does multitask with native applications.... may want to check your facts.

Re: Multitasking question...
by Rich Brome (Moderator) Jun 23, 2009, 8:27 AM

It sounds like your current understanding is correct.

The iPhone does do a decent job of pseudo-multitasking. It's not actual multi-tasking, but most apps do load quickly and pick up right where you left off, which is most of what multi-tasking is supposed to provide. With third-party apps, it's up to the developer to make this work seamlessly, (a poorly-designed app would not pick up where you left off,) but Apple has created a system that will work well for most.

The real missing feature - as benjitek noted - is the ability to run apps in the background. Apple "cheats" and lets its own apps - like iPod and now Voice Memo - run in the background, but w...

So without testing an android 2.0 device yourself you can make claims about its browser, media player, and interface lag?

Might want to check yourself on your claims there until you can review a device yourself, or at least have a review to point to.

I like safari, I like mac, but I'll put Chrome up against safari anyday. It is much better, FOR ME.

See, that is what you don't get, just because you happen to prefer the iphone doesn't mean it's the best device for everyone else.

It's not preference, for the most part I can list empirical reasons why a particular platform works better than another. I can specify something such as Apple's on-screen keyboard's subtle differences make it superior in practice even though they seem similar, etc.

I've gotten to use Android 2.0, and I stand by my claims.
