Now all I have to do is to wait till stores have it and then see if I can convince Verizon to sell it to me at a contract price even though I am not eligible for an upgrade yet.

can you really activate a verizon phone on sprint's service. Verizon should have this phone on lock just like AT&T has the iPhone on lock

iPhone can be unlocked. Why not this phone? Anyway, this is 2K+. There really is no such thing as "On Lock" anymore. Techi's-FTW!

Precisely!!! There are ways around everything!
Heck, I've heard of Sense UI & MotoBlur being being ported to other Androoid devices. There are people out there who know how, unfortunatly I'm not one of those people who know how.

So this phone doesn't have gsm? How about a 3.5mm jack? Will the browser have a flashplayer like skyfire? Does the screen tilt? Can it support slingbox? I had my heart set on the htc touch pro 2 which does all of the above, but verizon seems to want to be out of stock and I don't know if the pros of the droid will outmatch the TP2 features I like. Any input on this matter?

The Touch Pro 2 is a hard to match/beat phone. It all comes down to Android vs Windows Mobile.

Do you want a tilt screen or a open source market? I personal like the Touch Pro 2 also. You however don't seem to own one so, you have to pretty much decide if Android or Windows Mobile is for you. Everything else you mentioned has work arounds.

If you can get a hold of a TP2 I would play with that for a little while. If you cant, the Droid wouldn't be a badd 2nd choice (in theory, the phone hasn't been reviewed yet).

That's the thing, tp2 never launched in the stores, and now only 6 wks after it went online, they say they have 0 in stock. I wonder what is the holdup? And yes winmo vs android is the question. I'd like to see specs and reviews soon, I might just go with a tp2 from ebay if verizon doesn't put them out already.

Specs are up, on Verizon partially and everywhere else, just google the Droid. I am waiting on reviews myself. Boy Genius has done a review but it wasn't very in depth. Unless it turns out to be like the original Storm, (lots of hype and nothing to back it up), then this will be my next deviceâ™Â¦

Its not just Verizon. Try to search for the Sprint and T-Mobile version.... Sold Out too.

its a solid phone. Kinda on the heavy side but, what it can do makes the weight forgivable.

good luck. Verizon don't offer other upgrade options besides the Annual Upgrade or Regular Upgrade.

In some cases when you don't have insurance and you tell them your phone is broken or damage they will offer you a phone with a 1yr pricing plus u gotta extend ur contract again.

If I am not mistaken when the storm and voyager phones were released you could only get them if you were elegible to upgrade.

You could not call in and say it broke or have it replaced so many times then ask for a multi exchange.

If that is correct I immagine it will be the same for the DROID, all though I have not heard any thing official yet. Just don't want people to get their hopes up for something that may not work.
