OK, How is this a smart move??? Lets do the math on all of this.

1 Line no Contract on T Mobile

Cost of Curve $349
24 Months of
Service $1679

Total Cost $2028

This gets you 1000 anytime minutes, unlimited nights at 9pm and t mobile to t mobile

Addt costs $10mo. Telenav Voice turn by turn
Insurance $6mo.

Lets assume you get both these features

Total cost is now $2412 over 24 months, yes I know no contract, but you cant "leave" t mobile until your phone is paid off.

Now what does Sprint Have??? Only saying this because T-Mobile isnt comparing itself to Sprint, hmm wonder why, take a look!!

BB Curve with Sprint $50 after MIR(2 yr con)
24 Months of Service $1679

This includes 450 anytime minutes...

"How is New T-Mob Plans game changing??"

It is the case of no contracts involved.

Imagine if you can get the typical subsidy on the phone with no contract. TMo has not explained the details on this, but if true is game changing.

And that typically within 2 yrs for the last 10yrs, every telco has changed the fee-plan or the plan itself! Remember AT&T's 2yrs 3G plan and then they switched to higher rates for the iPhone 3GS and push folks to get the higher plan when their old 3G expired...

Also, your scenario in canceling the Sprint plan is the theoretical case on what customer will see, but usually do not see: most customers typically have 2-3 mos. balances and when you call to cancel, Sprint/AT&T/Verizon will attempt to strike a d...

But really, how is it functionally different?

You say it's no contract, but there is the contract to purchase the phone. You either buy it outright or pay in installments. If you want to leave and are on the installment plan, you have to pay it off. That's pretty much the reason behind the ETF. If you buy the phone outright at the beginning, you're just paying the ETF at the beginning.

Either way, they're getting their money. In fact, they're probably going to make more money because a lot of people probably won't upgrade their phone every two years. So as the original cost of that phone gets stretched over 3, 4, or 5 years Tmobile is benefiting because they're not subsidizing the extra phones either. Meanwhile, the customer...

Your not getting less from the provider. They are giving you dirt cheap plans $59.99 for unlimited talk and unlimited text unlimited nights and weekends unlimited mobile to mobile and NO CONTRACT so instead of paying full price for the phone you pay it off over 20 months. How is that getting less? Whats the reason to want to cancel the service if your getting all that for that price. Not only that your not limited to the coverage of say Revol or Cricket or other garbage no contract companies. On top of that T-Mobile has won customer service awards the past 4 years. Yea either way they are getting their money but so is every company yet I dont see any other company offering you to split the price of the phone over 20 months *and now rea...

You're getting less, because they are not rewarding customer loyalty with discounted phones every two years. They've taken away MyFaves for those who only call a limited number of people.

If you get a contract you get rewarded with upgrading to a new handset we were speaking strictly for the Even More Plus which is NO CONTRACT so of course they aren't discounting handsets every 2 years. No company is going to discount handsets for a no contract, so really you don't have a valid point. Plus ontop of that they are dividing the phone in which every other carrier you would pay for the full price in the store into 20 payments of at most $27.00 for the most expensive phone we have. Yeah they did take away myfaves and that does affect a small populace, but if you think about it your getting an unlimited calling plan for a much cheaper price than any other major carrier. So you dont have a point and the are not giving the custome...

Why would you add a third party charge? Lets add $50 on both plans too for ring tone downloads.

I only added that charge because it is included with the sprint plan. Ringtones cost money with every company. I simply stated that with Sprint it is included
