The VZW homers are going to be unbearable now. When criticized about phone selection, they always turn to the Network as the answer. "What good is a cool phone if it is on a sub-par network?" Well once VZW gets new phones that are cool and exciting the "We are the best carrier ever." comments are going to be all over the place. *Shudder* It's going to be a long winter. LOL

my thought exactly...

I love how they mentioned that they would include GV support (slap at iphone/ATT) and that they would launch with the Android Marketplace (slap to VZWHater Trolls)

For me? I'm just happy our only Android phone won't be made by motorola...

I bought a Tour recently... Let's hope the phone isn't too awesome or I'll be dropping another 600

I remember when the G1 dropped, a guy was gloating like Cartman about how owning the phone made him awesome. This is a "MAJOR" partnership. T-Mobile was the appetizer...VZW will be the main course. Verizon has no choice but to allow GV and the Android store on this device, That is what Android stands for...Open Device Platform. All the people who beat the dead horse about Verizon locking their phones will have to reconsider. If you are not married to RIM (like me) chances are you are going to really like the Android phones so start saving your nickels.

I'm still waiting for them to announce a "Google" plan.

some flat rate per month, 3g only, unlimited data and txt messaging, with your "phone number" converted to a VOIP GV number.

You think it will be a cold winter, if that hits, no one would shut up for years >.<

one can dream

I am of the opinion that voice is flat anyhow. Data is where the money is to be made. That is why I keep hoping Sprint will be the major carrier to drive the $50 Unlimited Voice plan. It may not be collusion, but the major carriers are almost acting in accord to keep rate plans where they are. When Verizon sells a block of minutes to Page Plus and Page Plus can sell Unlimited Text and Talk (on Verizon's network no less) that tells you all you need to know about how much voice and messaging costs the carriers. Voice next to nothing (pennies per minute) and messaging zero, nada, zilch (when I researched and found that out, I was blown away). So it's not a dream. It is coming. I think Sprint or T-Mobile will be the one to blink and then...

A mom and pop here, Cellular South is offering an $80 Unlimited Smartphone plan which includes: unlimited talk, text, Web, and email. If VZW is allowing Google Voice on Android phones they may as well match that pricing. Nationwide 900 w/ F&F plus Unlimited Email and Web. Text to email with the Google Voice number and F&F with GV as well. Just cut out the middle man.

I will never understand why so, so many on Phone Scoop are walking advertisements for wireless carriers. First and foremost all of us are consumers.

Well because many work for Carrier X or Carrier Y. My problem is that I have worked for four so I have no loyalty to any but the highest bidder.

Just because I work for a "company" doesn't mean I'm loyal to them. A company is just that a company, they aren't loyal to you the employee. The only people corporations are loyal to a investers.

The ONLY person I'm loyal to is a wife, and I live in Las Vegas, wives don't exist in Las Vegas.

Personally, I just don't understand loyalty to corporations.

I am not defending the behavior...just explaining it. Some people really drink the kool aid. Carrier colors become like gang signs. I just laugh. I can sell you a Ford and drive a Honda. I don't care. Just pay me.

Precisely, when it all boils down to it, no matter what company you work for, it's just a paycheck, end of sentance.

Besides there are a lot of places, Best Buy & Wireless Toyz are 2 examples who sell multiple carriers, and it's they're job to see which carrier would fit a perticular customer best.

actually, it's their job to get the customer into the phone/carrier/plan that gives them the best spiff, or helps them hit their quota.
