To be a bit off topic I was hoping that the CyanogenMod Cease and Desist order would pop up on here under news as its a similar problem Google received from Apple & AT&T. Its created quite an up roar within the Android SDK developer community

Hopefully Scoop is right and G1 will get 1.6.
I try to stay up on all the Android stuff... its not always easy. But that was a major headliner!
Ideally, upgrades would be available for the length of any of the initial two year contracts.

Conflicting reports leave HTC G1 owners without a real answer with respect to the G1's ability to update to Android 2.0 and beyond. Android software engineer Dave Sparks recently said, "There will come a time in the near future when we won't be able to fit the latest release on the G1 internal flash." I do not understand why everyone thought this comment meant that Donut wouldn't be available to the G1. Its like watching that old "telephone" game from when i was a kid. As the rumors spread, they become strange and misconstrued. I'm sure eventually even the myTouch will be unable to upgrade to the next gen Android OS due to size limitations. I'm sure the Android phone that comes out 5 years from now will eventually be unable to update. Big deal, its not as if the phone does less than it did before Donut became available.
