What if you are the passenger?
I am guessing there is no way to tell if you are the driver of the passenger. In my opinion it is a good idea and a bad idea at the same time.

If you are the passenger, you are just S.O.L. Make sure that you keep a personal phone. I see so many individuals turn over their blackberries which they personally purchased onto their company's BES. I just shake my head at them.

Then again according to this company, its perfectly safe to talk as long as it's on a "safe list". Hahaha, what BS.
...
Depends on what constitutes "safe list". If its 911 calls or calls to a dispatcher to get information on a job or coordinates, those calls usually aren't very long and are part of your driving awareness (looking for a address for example).
That aside, I agree with you. A call is a call no matter who the call is to or for what.

How the hell did we get to this? why are companies and the government coming up with new ways everyday to take just a little bit more freedom from us. We should be mad as hell about this.

There is no moral dilemma of any kind in making a product available in a free market. The man who pays the bills should be free to make the vast majority of the rules, whether it's Uncle Sam, you're overseer at work or your Mom.
A government public mandate is something completely different, but for enterprise or personal family use- I see nothing wrong with such a product being available.
Just watch- next week the Carriers will have a $10 solution that watches the GPS and shuts the phone down at the network level instead of the handset level. Wouldn't that be great? 😕
