Pay for roaming when you use this phones key feature, WTF!

That defeats the purpose. That would be the only reason someone would want this phone is that it can swithc to satelite coverage in rural areas, but now you have to pay roaming? thats crazy.

Now lets wait for how much the roaming will be.

"The service will provide normal cellular access when users are covered by AT&T's cellular network, and can seamlessly switch to the satellite network for coverage in remote areas of the United States, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands and in territorial coastal waters."

The territorial and coastal waters is certainly key. When one is roaming offshore, the roaming rate may be $3 per minute or $9 per minute. So it is not just rural areas where one has the option to roam on a mom and pop carrier for $.69 per. In some locales there is no other coverage available. If one is under such restriction then satellite coverage is necessary.

If one is not, then this hybrid phone is not of any use to you.
