I agree, LTE is not GSM. That's like saying CDMA is TDMA, or EVDO is HSPA. That don't make sense. LTE is a whole new format of wireless technolgy. If LTE was GSM then why in the world would carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile need to upgrade? They already run on GSM, oh thats right, because LTE is different!

And who cares which technology is older? CDMA works better than GSM. And nobody know if LTE will be worse or better yet! They are still field testing it, so nobody knows better than the ones actually developing it. It could be better than CDMA for all we know. But I'm not worried because the news release said that Verizon is overlaying the LTE network, meaning they'll keep their CDMA/EVDO network operational for some time.

Everyone is trying to make assumptions too early. This is like when the Blackberry Storm came out. Just hours after it released people were already saying how great it was or how bad it was. Give it time. I bet most of us will actually like the LTE network. I would like to have a SIM phone, its a great technology. And faster speeds would be great too. How about voice and date use at the same time...I won't complain.

LTE may have similarities of GSM (maybe) but it's going to be something NEW...it won't be GSM or CDMA, period.
