Every car maker should put a device that jams any kind of cellphone frequency inside the car and just add a 911 or emergency call button right under the rear view mirror.

That's probably the most effective, yet worst solution possible. Just think for a second, No one in the car could make calls. That's bad enough by itself but just imagine being outside a store on your phone and someone drives by while your walking through the parking lot. Their would be endless complaints about dropped calls from people's cars.

not only would what tlgreene1021 said be true, but also this would probably be something that would be equipped on new vehicles, and to force consumers to have their current vehicles modified to comply with government standards would not work very well. there is never re...

I think the best solution is to put together some kind of test to see whether you are actually coordinated enough to do it. I can operate a phone and drive perfectly fine, but some people can't do it to save their life. I don't think I should be penalized because of someone elses lack of coordination. And plus, coordination is an excuse the cops will use to back up the fact that they always drive while on their phone, their training supposedly gives them the coordination to do it.

I 100% agree with you. I was taught a one-handed steering when I was learning to drive and I have excellent coordination behind the wheel. I do not need to look at my phone to compose a text message or dial a number. Now there are people who can't even walk down the street in a straight line and talk on the phone. There should be a test to see how well a person behind the wheel can handle distractions and their ability to get or renew a driver license should also be based on the results of this test.
