Sprint Launches Android Developer Tools
I'm curious where carriers get the idea. . .
I am sure that things like Sprint TV, Sprint Nascar and NFL Mobile need to access things on the Sprint network to function. Sprint doesn't want people (like XDA Developers) to port these apps to work on other carriers. They need to "phone home" somehow on Sprint's network.
Sprint could offer access to these network resources and API's to third parties.... especially if they are making certain apps EXCLUSIVE to Sprint's Android devices.
...only that they'll access net data way faster and more reliably... but fundamentally the same indeed.
However there are some services that are unique to Sprint - or work slightly differently with Sprint - that all Android developers should test for, and this is for that, too. Sprint lists these services as "location-based services, messaging, Geofence and more".
