If you were going to buy a car and found out that only 1,000 models were sold and out of those vehicles that were sold 300 were brought back, then you would be a little hesitant to purchase that vehicle. Numbers mean a lot. Now I'm not saying thats what happen with Palm nor am I saying that they have anything to hide but to answer your question, numbers can mean alot. 😉

Here's some #'s for you, there's news that Palm has just suffered it's !! 9th !! Straight quarterly loss. Maybe it's too early still for the Pre to have made much of a difference for Palm. Maybe Q1 2010 will be better.

The answer to this is that it costs a lot to roll out new products. As strange as it seems, the Pre might actually hurt short term.

I get what your saying, cost of marketing the Pre was cited as reasoning for part of Palm's loss.

the pre was a good idea but probly will just end up making palm lose money in the long run cause numbers dont lie. noone buys it how do they make a profit?

Your comparing a phone that has been out for several years to one thats been out for several months. Yes, there will be more of the iphone out there.
The Pre made it's debut on a smaller carrier which gives it a smaller market for now, so again there will be more iphones out there for that reason also.
For Palm to survive, they need to get WebOS out there on a number of phones similia...

the iphone in general has been out for a long time yes. i wish we had actual #'s to compare cause the 3gs is probly towering above the pre.
im on a mini rampage with the pre cause of all the people that said it would kill the iphone and have been saying since the storm came out.
