Well some G1 & MyTouch users, also other Android phones, will benefit from this improvement in opening or using the camera, well done Google

they might be able to tweak the speed but i have yet to see better quality photos for a 3.2Mp camera on my G1, htc just never made good cameras IMHO, it would be nice if it could capture a clearer shot without having to hold the phone so super still and better light, you have to be right under the sun basically to get a clear and bright image. dont get me wrong i love htc devices, just the cameras are blah.

Are the cameras on HTC's WinMo smartphones crap too? Or just HTC's Android ones?

I've only had two HTC phones (SDA and myTouch) and both cameras took bad pics. A dude at a store took a pic of me with his Wing once and it didn't come out that well either...

The software tweak won't help with ISO and F-Stop on your cellphone camera. Both of which help in stablizing and lighting a photo properly. I am sorry but your camera will always be the way it is.

Sadly as it is, cell phone cameras always seem to be slow, even on my Nokia N95, the resolution of cell phone cameras may have been increasing, but there are still many other improvements yet to come. I think it would be nice if when you turn the camera on, that the processor would be dedicated to the camera only, and nothing else while in camera mode!!!

One can just go about and get a dedicated camera? Please take no offense, but, to me this fetish on camera's on phones has gone nuts. And yes I have an N95 and the camera is better then anything HTC has, but to be honest, it isn't why I would buy a phone. And nor would I use it to make a photographic statement. Sure some phone snaps bu...

I agree with you to a certain extent. I take a lot of pictures and for big deal things, I use one of my "real" cameras. But there are times when I don't want to carry around a phone and camera but might want to have a camera "just in case". With my Behold, which took great pictures, I never had any second thoughts about it. "Do I need to bring my camera? Nah... my phone will do." But with my myTouch, I don't have that luxury anymore because of the poor quality of the images.

It's a shame that such a nice phone takes such crappy pictures!

Well I Have The GSM HTC Touch Pro And It Has A Glorious 3.2mp Camera With Flash so all of htc's cameras dont suck just the ones on the G1 ,Mytouch, MDAs And PPCs My Snap Alos Takes Very Decent pics too I personally think they are just lazy why would you release 3 android phones with no flash? Android is tryna kill the Iphone not match it why follow the stupidity of applke by offering a good camera with no flash back in the day most vga phones had a flash so we can't put one in a phone that does everything but makes u toast? Come On HTC u let me down with the TP2 u coulda put the mute button somewhere else and a flash right there I'd be so happy of they made a 5mp with a great ISO and a Dual Led or Xenon Flash Cause Nokia and LG Are Making s...
