I like the initiative Clearwire/Sprint are taking here. 4G is the next evolution and they want everyone to experience the best in WiMAX. LTE may have been chosen for the world standard, But I love WiMAX for what it stands for.

It is the first 4G to be implemented and has driven the push for LTE sooner than planned. No one else was willing to move forward until the move of WiMAX became reality. The markets are growing and their footprint should be respected in the wireless industry for this accomplishment. For this, I shall stick with the underdog.

I could've sworn a long time ago that I read here on Phone Scoop that WiMax is capable of data speeds much, much higher than 6-10mbps? If I recall correctly I've read speeds of 25mbps, even 75mbps.

I've also read that next year Verizon's LTE network will be capable of data speeds of
8-12mbps!

Seems like in the next 10-14 months, those who have REAL broadband from cable companies will be able to get the same REAL broadband speeds minus the cable.
