AT&T puts their logo on the phone, therefore, they should make sure it works properly before they sell it.

If they shouldn't be held responsible for the equipment they sell, they should cut out all of this subsidy B.S. and stick to selling only the service.

still a simple fact that ATT did not manufacture the device. quit complaining your acting like you own the device.

So, if I buy a car from FORD, and the tires fail prematurely (made by FIRESTONE), do I return the tires to Firestone, or do I take up the issue with Toyota at their dealership?

Ford is responsible to make sure the products that they sell (whether or not they manufacture them) will satisfy their customers. This was proven by a lawsuit several years ago for some tires that DID fail.

AT&T has their own testing labs that "certify" these devices before they are sold to their customers. How did these phones make it past the AT&T labs, into the hands of the customers?

Unlike Ford, in their dispute with Firestone, ATT is doing something about it. In response to your analogy, Ford has sent notice to the relatively few customers who bought the vehicle with the bad tires and to their dealers to stop selling that vehicle, return all of them to the factory, and give their customers the option of either waiting on replacement tires of a different brand, or waiting until the dealerships get re-engineered tires of the same brand that will be in the shops in about 2 weeks.

If the phone just dies after 6 months due to software issues. Is it still AT&T's fault? Does AT&T have to test phones for 2 years to make sure that the phone will last the two years of your contract? If that was the case, we would just be getting a BB Curve released. The iPhone 2G would had been released Jun 30th of 2009. etc etc...

I agree somewhat, but I have a feeling Nokia offered this as a cheap smartphone to carriers around the world, rushed to market, and they took it. And while I think in this case Nokia does deserve most of the blame, AT&T bears some of it. My feelings about this phone are mixed I'd be more positive of it if was on a cheaper medianet plan, and not a pda plan, basically it cost monthly the same as a Blackberry or iPhone.

As fa...

I'm sorry about my mistake on the Mural, I mixed it up with another phone, it is a medianet plan phone. Sorry for any confusion.

Still sad, from the pictures, does look like a decent just above basic fliip, my wife might have liked it, if her present phone went bad.

Do you read news articles before putting in your two cents? This was Nokia's fault during the manufacturing of the device they turned off the 3G antenna.

yet another fail by someone who hates ATT for no reason. since it completely states that nokia didnt have the 3G set up for the device and ATT wanted the customers to have a better device with 3G and ATT even offers the customer to choose a different phone, or wait until the updated version. id say thats very nice of ATT..

For all of you who think that I´m a AT&T hater, well I have to dissapoint you, but I´m not.

AT&T has several issues of this type during this year with the phones, IM NOT MAKING A BIG OF THIS, I´m only giving my opinion. I think that some misunderstanding between AT&T & the phone manufactures, they supposely have this issue fix before releasing the phone, an example is the Instinct, I guess they plenty of time to test & discover this issues, that´s what I think

You don't know what happened behind closed doors. Perhaps Nokia promised to deliver the phone with 3G but didn't. So AT&T pulled the phone and made Nokia fix the problem without telling this story to the press and making them look like fools.

Perhaps after the phone was made they realized it didn't have 3G and decided to except the loses, retract the phones update them and re-release them with the hopes that in pleasing the masses they could make up a fraction of the loses.

Perhaps, and the list goes on. I don't see why there needs to be any blame at all on this topic. AT&T and Nokia released a phone. Both or one of the two decided the phone needs to have 3G capabilities to maintain company preference. They pulled the phone, offered al...

Nokia and AT&T are both taking the reputation hit. I cannot see how anyone can blame AT&T for this debacle. Nokia is probably taking the monetary hit though. AT&T is probably demanding credit for every phone shipped.

Ya, true but it could be a bad batch of chips from Qualcomm... that would be one of the only ways something this catastrophic could happen without getting caught by Quality Assurance.

This was a manufacturing fault, not ATT's. The company had sent out a stop sell/stop ship notice 3 days ago, only a couple of days after the phones hit the stores. ATT is offering customers who purchased the phone the option of either returning the Nokia for a new Sony Ericsson W518 now, or they can wait until after the 21st of Sept.and swap it for the updated Mural.

The problem is apparently a software issue, as we have been asked to send all of the phones in the store back to be reflashed so that they can work on the 3G network.
