Can you tell me what Apple or AT&T has done different from the 1st Iphone to the 3G?

I could tell you what the MyTouch did different from the G1.

Even when you do finally get MMS, you still have trouble multitasking, something most smartphones can do.

What about expandable memory? Sure you can MMS but what happens when you fill up your iPhone internal memory with pictures? What will you do? Delete some pictures? Get another Iphone with more memory? All a G1 user has to do is buy another SD Memory card. $15 maybe? No new phone and he gets to keep all his pictures.

After you get MMS and go all out sending MMS messages, what will you do if you get a Battery failure? Get another Phone? A G1 user can simply buy another battery.

Your response sounds like it was typed somewhere on a library computer in Arkansas. All of his points were valid. Removeable memory cards are increasingly cheap these days and its better to have to swap a card then to stare at a 0 bytes left screen. If your iPhone completely froze how do you restart it? When your rechargable battery stops holding a great amount of charge what will you do? Get it replaced through insurance through AT&T? Whoops...

Just because the iPods (a toy) haven't had a user removeable battery ever, doesn't mean its right for the iPhone (a cellular device) to do the same.

Best Buy's iPhone plan is not a rapid exchange, know how I know that? I use to work for their mobile phone department. It has to be sent in to be repaired and we do not give you a new phone on the spot.

Now I work for AT&T and I troubleshoot iPhones, guess what if the phone freezes up holding down the home and power button works sometimes but not all the time, and for those instances when it doesn't work you are left staring at an iPhone for several hours until it runs out of juice.

I do watch full legnth movies and tv shows on my phone, and I have a healthy amount of songs on it. And if I had an iPhone I would have a lot of apps downloaded. So yes 16 gb is too small. The main argument isn't wether or not the user might or might n...

The latest Smartphones support 32 GB memory cards.

But here's where other Smartphones eat the iPhone at...

3rd Party Apps
Loud Speakers
Removable Batteries
Specialized Functionality

On the iPhone, the 3rd party apps have to be approved and digitally signed by Apple and be in the App Store in order for you to be able to download them.

On any other smartphone OS, you can go to a website and download an app and run it. If it's not digitally signed, it warns you first, but it lets you run it if you so desire.

To get that same functionality in an iPhone, you have to Jailbreak it, but even then you are limited to another app store, and hoping you don't break it and can't restore the phone before sending it into Warranty, because ...

You actually carry around multiple memory cards? Where do you store extra micro-SD cards? serious question, it was hard enough not to lose the adapter that makes it a Mini-SD to sync with my old computer. You can buy any of a half dozen cases that include extended batteries, you can't do that with any other PDA, you would have to store your extra battery with your microSD card

I pocket my cellphone so I don't leave it anywhere to get it stolen, and if someone robs me for it... Well, they will be looking down the barrel of my Kimber .45 Enough said.

And yes I would shoot someone in self defense for my life.

I think the stealing of a phone wouldn't warrant you the ability to shoot someone but I am not a judge.

MicroSD cards do come with large plastic cases that store the card and SD adapter so its not that hard to keep track of.

Just like with my Nikon D2X I have multiple Compact Flash cards because I would hate to be taking pictures and run out of room and have to start debating on which ones to delete.

there is a huge difference between a damn SLR camera compared to a camera phone that has 3MP compared to your 10+MP SLR camera. the argument is officially over.

The point wasn't the difference between my SLR and my camera phone, I was stating that with devices that take memory cards you can have multiples of them and its not that hard to keep track of them.

My SLR can't download apps, music or video so just because its 12 mp images take up a lot of room, so does an entire season of Mission Hill.

So debate is back on!

it can be hard if you have quite a few or different colors to identify the memory cards, but for a mobile device to have a few memory cards is just funny and dumb to me, and to many people as well. its not even a huge bonus to be able to add only 8GB of memory to your phone and once you run out, you will have to buy another card, and once you fill that up you have to buy another one, sounds like a hassle. Although, 8GB is A LOT of data to fill, I personally have not even come close to using 2GB's. I have 311 songs currently, and adding more every day and over 80 pictures and 4 apps ranging from 1-10MB currently, had the TOM TOM GPS app that was 1.4GB but did not really need it at the time.

Also its not hard to back up your photos on your...

lol, ok, so, I mentioned a few issues and you (not you as in the person I'm responding to) speak mostly about the Memory Card.

Ok, well, heres the thing about the memory card; When you buy a Iphone, you need to decide THEN & THERE just how much memory you think you will need. Lets say after you talk it over with your wife you come to the understanding that you only need a 8GB Iphone. Yet, what happens when 4 months later you realize you need a 16GB iphone? You don't really have any options anymore.

Now using the same example on a G1 (lets just say for now) this wouldn't be a issue. Because of the expandable memory when you get a G1 for the 1st time it comes with 1GB. You can then get more GB's as you need them. You realize you need 8G...

This is a perfect point as to why I will always dig a phone with the expandable memory option.

The iPhone and its set strict memory amounts reminds me of the non-upgradable Macs they make. Give people options instead of charging them top dollar for a device that will go out of date.

because 200 and 300 is sooooooooo expensive for a phone for 16GB and 32GB, as HTC is 450 with a 100 MIR for their new crap device that doesnt even have over 100MB internal then you have to buy your multiple memory cards to match the iphone. they are also still charging 400 with a 100 MIR for their last HTC device thats on Sprint.

The MyTouch is $179.99 with a New contract. You can get that on a plan with 300 mins, unlimited text and unlimited data for as little as $64.98 a month. Comes with a 4GB memory card.

Should you need more then 4GB we also have 8GB memory cards for $29.99.

A replacement battery would run you $19.99.
