Verizon? Doubtful...

Well that pretty much seals the deal that we will never see such a phone on Verizon. Nokia has never made a great CDMA phone in any case. I applaud this attitude.

On the other hand what a great way for Verizon to bring exclusive Nokia phones back and charge them as a premium phone data plan which is now going to be the root of ARPU to go up. I can just imagine Hot Nokia Phones at Verizon but require the extra monthly charges like the Samsung rogue. 😢

I'm with you about Verizon. It seems pretty unlikely that they would release anything without their signature/horrible red interface (not to mention some crippled functionality that forces you to pay to use one of the built-in components). T-Mobile is probably the only major US carrier at this point that might let a non-customized OS through the door. And we already know that the N900 is slated for T-Mo so it seems like a nice fit.

Still, I can't help but think Nokia will be eating their words. I find it very hard to believe that even T-Mobile would sell a device without at least a little bit of their stink on it.

I don't think it's unreasonable for T-Mobile to brand the hardware if they sell it, and maybe offer a few custom calling features as an extra app, as well as a visual theme or two, but that's a far cry from the iron-clad uniform UI of Verizon phones. (To their credit, btw, it's looking nicer on newer phones, but still way behind what the phonemakers come up with).

I'd actually wonder that if/when(?) T Mobile sells the N900, they'd sell it unlocked with a subsidy. Probably not, but it's a safe bet that their branding touch on the N900 will be light at best.

Really the only problem I have with switching to Tmo for the N900 is they just don't seem to be very active with they're network. Isn't ATT's 3G network lilke what at least 30% faster than Tmo's? That's something important to me.

Btw, Japhy, that link you provided earlier for Maemo apps, are they all compatible with the N900? I can't wait for it to actually be out on the market, and start reading reviews, and watching YouTube vids of the phone in action.

I'm not too sure how I feel about how Nokia seems to mess up keyboard, and put the space bar to the right like that!!!

It more than likely will be a locked device, but T-mo will unlock any T-mo phone after 90 days of service
