Thats why you should just go ahead and sign up with the Premium Plan it gives you unlimited data, V-cast videos, and VZ Navigator.

I don't really mind them requiring a data plan, but the price structure is clearly designed to push people into the Connect or Premium plans. Otherwise, the prices are pretty steep for so little data.

It would also seem that they're encouraging people to form "families" to keep costs down.

I kinda wish it was 19.99 for unlimited, 9.99 for the 25, or it would be bundled with connect/premium, but ah well.

They assume that everyone who would want a phone like this texts anyway.. I honestly think most of this new pricing is to try and get customers to get a phone that matches their usage, not just whatever they can get free

I've had so many people with NE2100 credits ask me "what is the most expensive phone I can get free." and then they buy that phone, no matter how wrong it is for them.
