That they push back this date, or experience severe tech glitches the day it goes live.

Actually, I'm pretty sure they set this estimate to avoid major glitches.

I am actually switching to an Android phone from the iphone sometime this fall (google voice), so I'm not a "fan boy" either way. I think both make a great product. However your statement is stupid. Apple is 3rd in sales behind Nokia & RIM for smartphone sales. "In fact, Apple had the largest gains in the smartphone market, selling more than 5.4 million iPhones in the second quarter of 2009 compared to 892,000 in the second quarter of 2008"

the iphone is advertised like no other. so of course its gonna sell. and when they release the new models they push harder and those that had an iphone want the new for all the features that are added. even though those features are catching up with features that have been on other phones for a long time, ie pic mail and video.

when i said catch up i meant with the innovation. yea it has apps but the winmo phones including palm can get a version of most of those apps. htc just started advertising with this years fleet of phones and still have sold many only off word of mouth and websites like this.

They have provided the new firmware to the older models of their phone. The only thing the iPhone 3Gs has over the older iPhones is a 3.2 mp camera (over a 2 mp), video recording capabilities, new graphics processor, and a new cpu. But features wise its pretty on par with each other, and MMS will be available on all models of the iPhone.

Well, MMS will not work with the original iPhone, only the 3G and 3GS models, so in a way, they did have to make a new model. The original was never designed to support it, and it still can't, even with OS 3.0. Clearly they changed something with the hardware in the 3G model that laid the groundwork to support it in software.

Technically...there will still be a "summer" somewhere in the world.

IIRC; ATT's press release didn't state whose summer...

;) 😛

No, it won't. Seasons aren't like time zones. It will Autumn in the Northern Hemisphere and Spring in the Southern Hemisphere.

It won't be summer or winter, anywhere on Earth.

if it's the most awesome phone in the world, it should've come out of the factory being able to send and receive MMS. PLUS the only other good thing about the Iphone is the apps, unfortunately you have to pay 10million bucks for each app. Android is 10x better.
