HTC Hero requires activation on a pricing plan offering unlimited data. Sprint’s Simply EverythingSM plan provides unlimited nationwide calling, texting, e-mail, social networking, Web browsing, GPS navigation, Sprint TV, streaming music, NFL Mobile Live, NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile and much more for only $99.99 per month. That’s a savings of $1,200 over two years vs. a comparable AT&T iPhone® plan2. Sprint Everything Data plans with unlimited messaging and data start at just $69.99 for 450 minutes with unlimited night and weekend calling starting at 7 p.m. (All price plans exclude Sprint surcharges and taxes.)

You can start out with the 450 Everything Plan if you like. It is $69.99/month.

I agree, this article has incorrect info you are not required to have a 100.00 plan In fact some people will have the newer version of SERO called Simply Everything Plus (its just 10 bucks /m less then the regular SE plans) those people can get it for as little as 59.99/month 450 min unlimited data.

This is from the original article on sprint.com

Yes, because keeping track of everything from dozens of sites and datamining the FCC is totally easy? 🙄

Besides we all know that they'll be trying to get people on the SimplyUnlimited Plan, it's the one they push more than any other with their commercials.

The Press Release only states that a plan with "unlimited data is required" which doesn't mean it'll require an Everything Data or Simply Everything Plan. The release then goes on to advertise the Everything Data plans that start at 450 minutes all the way up to the Simply Everything Plan which has unlimited minutes.
This is very different than the wording used for the Palm Pre press release which stated that it'll be available with a "new two-year service agreement on an Everything Data plan or Business Essentials with Messaging and Data plan."

The phonescoop article didn't say anything wrong, the everything data 450/900 are part of the 'simply everything' plan series here at sprint, which is what they said...it requires a simply everything plan...
