I am Jealous of a sprint phone...

I was REALLY hoping that this would be a duel announcement like with the Tour.. I would snap this phone up in a heartbeat.

Ah well. I guess I'm getting the Tour unless HTC announces a Verizon Android phone.

No way in hell I'm getting a LOLMotorola

Aren't the Hero & MyTouch quite similar?

Wasn't going to say anything on this topic but as much as they might seem alike, 1 is made by Google and their other by HTC. I would rather have the HTC as well. I too am bummed it didn't come out for T-Mobile. MyTouch by Google is cool but I rather have a HTC product.

I knew this wouldn't come to T-Mobile though. We got the MyTouch. These 2 are too much alike to have on the same provider. HTC would have to compete with Google over at T-Mobile. It is more beneficial to them to give it to another carrier who doesn't have a similar phone on the line-up. Good Luck Sprint. HTC FTW!

I thought the Hero is android? Both phones are made by HTC using Googles operating system, right? The important thing for me is Google Voice which should work great on each phone because both are android.

wow. umm... yeah. Your right. I for some reason forgot the MyTouch was HTC (it was locked in my mind that the G1 and MyTouch was Google). The device is indeed HTC. I stand corrected. Thank You!

Oddly though, The MyTouch are advertised as the Google phones where the Hero is advertised as the HTC phone. Thats where I got confused.

You were still kinda correct in your first post. The myTouch is a "Google" branded Android phone by HTC. The Hero is not "Google" branded so there are a few differences in the OS. The main one being the Sense UI HTC offers on the Hero which is basically a new home screen. There was an article on Phonescoop a month or two ago that explained in better detail the differences. I will see if I can find it but there were 3 different versions of Android that Google would be offering.

Here it is...

The HTC Hero is an Android phone, but not as sanctioned Google phone, having the Sense UI interface is one reason. The MyTouch by TMO and HTC is a Google phone. While this sounds confusing, basically only difference is one has additions not approved by Google.

What about wifi, it does have wifi right? Does the Android Market have an app that lets you use a wifi enabled Android device as a wifi hotspot?

It depends on your carrier and if they try and block the apps for wifi hotspot. Also you need root access to be able to do that.

Well yeah root access would be the data that you already are paying your carrier for. And with reguards to what you said as to it depends if the carrier "blocks" an app that lets you use the wifi as a hotspot, screw the carrier I don't let the carrier make decision for me as to what I can/cant have on MY phone, I use an unlocked handset.

Well, sorta, the HTC Magic with the rev 32a motherboard spec's out the same as the Hero, except for the camera, the MyTouch has a little less ram.

Yeah, Sprint doesn't deserve this phone anyway. It wont help lure customers over though. Sprint still sucks and always will.
