Intensity?

Why Intensity? Its a horrible description and a decent name that could have been saved for a better phone. Intensity is a name grabber that gets people in the 12-30 age demographic. They are into this intense/xtreme BS. However, this phone is clearly made for older, simpler users. There is nothing "intense" about a candy bar style phone that basically just makes calls. Oooh it has a vibrate feature? Intense!

Yeah you are right. Unfortunately there is nothing intense about it. With a name like that, I would expect better features from a device...

Same with the "samsung smooth."

This phone is made for Tweens, not older users. It has a slide out qwerty, supports Threaded SMS (and I'm assuming Mobile IM), a music player (with lots of expandable memory room) all ni a small form factor for sub-$50.

Get me a pink case for this, and every middleschooler-highschooler girl will want one.

believe it or not, a lot of parents Balk at buying a EnV3/EnVTouch or an Alias2 for their 12 year old daughter that tends to lose EVERYTHING.

As long as this phone is decent (Samsung is really hit or miss with phones), I think it will sell really well. I can't wait to get them in stock.

Call me old-fashioned, but kids younger than high school age, do not really need cell phones. All they do is text and at that age they need to work on their social skills. Once they get into high school, a simple phone is alright. And when they get into college, they can get their own device of their choosing and pay for it themselves...

You're old-fashioned. 😉

A kid without access to text messaging and Facebook on the go is a kid out of the loop. It's a social necessity these days.

Guessing that I maybe one of the oldest phone scoopers, I would have to say that I am more than old fashioned. I am in the "Over The Hill" catagory. I need to be re-tested for a cellphone license! People my age should be re-tested. It's bad enough that we smash into the sides of a McDonalds with our vehicles. Now we own cellphones? You'll probably see me in a Florida court sometime!

Kids are getting Cellphones as low as 10 years old anymore. (granted they are limited).

On top of that, kids tend to text more than they talk, so a phone with a keyboard is becoming a "daddy I NEEEED itttt!" feature, so why not make a "low cost" option for the parents. This phone is around the same price point as a lot of flip phones. If they can get a keyboard for the same price as a flip, they'll get the keyboard.

Agreed! Cheap alternatives are always an attraction for most parents.

These days cell phones are a necessity for everyone. Maybe kids don't need cell phones so they can be calling their friends all night and texting during school, but it's great for parents. Especially for parents trying to get a hold of their kids if they are at practice or at a friends house. Parents want to keep tabs on the kids, and this is the perfect way.
