Are they crazy?

Thats 450 plus Im sure they will have their required plans and packages. Id pay 450 if I didnt have to do all the other stuff.

This is why Apple dominates....and yes I know about apple making money off the apps and other stuff

Actually WinMo phones don't require specific plans on Sprint. But uhh why get a high end phone if you don't plan on using the features? $70/month with unlimited data and messaging?? A ton better than anything AT&T has

Sprint has been requiring data plans on some of their phones lately (Pre and I think Blackberries?) which I am sure is leaving everyone wondering if WinMo phones are next.

its pretty much every pda that requires data. it avoids people from getting tons of data charges.

For the 100th time the data plan is only required on the pre and instinct. It is only required on other pda's in order to get the mail in rebate. So if you want to drop an extra $100 on the phone, don't get the data. On the Blackberries we have to put the data on when we sell it but it can be taken off later (5 minutes later or whenever)

Hawkeye this isn't directed at you personally it is just frustrating to hear this time and time again.

Nextsprint, about the blackberry, it is a required that the blackberry has the data plan attached to it and can't be removed unless on a grandfathered plan......

For new nextel BB, yep, but you can do it with a 7100i. I mean, who cares about the data on that thing anyway! :-P

Your completely right, my neighbor has a talk 550 for $59.99 with no add-ons at all and he has a curve and his wife has a m300. Blackberry's must be activated with a BB attachment, but it can be removed. All you have to do is delete the soc, and since its not a REQ soc, you wont get any errors. Only time a bbpack is a REQ soc is when its the included one on the everything data's.

Your slightly mistaken, Pre and the "instincts" require one of the new everything data plans. Blackberrys can be on any plan except the everything messaging, but has to have a blackberry pack. All other PDA phones don't necessarily have to be on a data pack, you just wont get your mail in rebate. The way sprint regulates it, is when ever you try and activate a PRE, Instinct, or a Blackberry you are forced to change your plan or the system wont save. other PDA's you can just swap yourself online on your sprint.com account or call in.

Actually thats why I am upset........I am AT&T and I was actually venting in anticipation that AT&T will try the same thing. I have no problem paying for the phone if I could have the 99 dollar everything plan with it but AT&T doesnt have that option and I am currently paying 100 for unlimited data (media max) 1500 text and 900 minutes for my blackjack 2.

I know next week they will be forcing us to pay the 40 dollar data plan if we buy a new WM phone. That does not include text which I would be paying another 20 for then theres the minutes that I am paying around 70 for now. I would hate to think that I would still have to shell out almost 500 dollars for this phone when they would be making over 3100 dollars off of me during the 2 yea...
