Yet another thing the government has no business in.

Don’t get me wrong I hate and I mean hate those robo calls. If I knew where they originated form I would literally burn that place to the ground. Obviously though they must work. If they did not work they would not be able to afford to keep the business running.

Yes it is horribly annoying to sprint to answer the phone just to hear some stupid machine. But it should not be criminalized. What is next? Are we going to ban smoking in public places because it annoys people (and don’t feed me the bs about health concerns, it that is true then outlaw it!)? Oh wait we already have banned smoking pretty much every where. What is next? Are we going to ban girl scouts from selling there cookies? I find them more annoying then robo calle...

you analogy sucks. Smoking causes severe health effects. Second hand smoke is worse then smoking it yourself.

Now I get what you're saying, but some things just come down to right/wrong. Do you really need a damn machine calling your house. Cuz that could be an honest americans job that doesn't have one.

Smoking sucks, so did your point

Yes it is true smoking kills. But if it is such a danger to the general public then it should be outlawed all together! but that is a side tangent.

Now back to robo calls I honestly prefer them over a human telemarketer. Don’t get me wrong I hate both, but at least the second I hear the automated message I know it is safe to hang up. When I hear a human voice I have to listen to what they are saying before I make the choice to hang up that is valuables time taken from my life I will never get back. Add it all up over the course of a life time that is days weeks years robed from me. So I could care less if some bottom feeders job is taken because of robo call. Be cause in the end the bottom feeder having a job causes a greater loss of...

I don't understand how you could call someone a "bottom feeder" for having a job....

I hope you take the time to think about that and maybe reconsider your thoughts

The job might suck but a least the person is making their living and not living off americas

..... and your time isn't that precious, quit acting like 30 seconds means the world to you

Some money is better than no money. And with companies like Cricket & Metro out there ppl can still get wireless service for as low as $30/mo. So they'll be ok, won't be w/o wireless service.

I am all for this. You phone number should be a private, not public if you don't want it to be, entity. That, and those companies make it nearly (if not totally) impossible to opt out of recieving those calls. And what's all this talk of "peoples jobs" Read the title, ROBO-CALLS. That means there is a computer dedicated to punching up a number at random and dialing someone to offer them a service or product, and if you don't want to recieve those calls, lately those companies have been hanging up to not allow you to opt out. That's called illegal and an invasion of privacy at that point.

I Applaud the FCC for doing this.

Maybe in stead of letting the government into our lives to control us, lets take some insentive and call the do not call lists so you people who don't like robo calls don't get them, and as for giving Americans jobs i don't think so those company's wont be able to make a profit whiteout there cheap robo calls, again more jobs lost because we let the government control everything we have become to lazy to make a phone call to stop this so we complain until the point where the government is sick of hearing it so whatever lets keep letting the government control over everything a applaud all of you who are ok with this

First of all, I will not call you stupid..but you wrote let us take some insentive...there are two words that you could have used...initiative or incentive. I believe you meant incentive, but you were wrong to even use that word. Incentive means a reason. The reason is because those calls are annoying. Initiative is what you meant to say, which means to act proactively. Secondly the national-do-not call list doesn't work 100% of the time. The reason why many companies use robo-calls is because its a lot harder to trace calls that could have been placed on an internet dialer than those on a hard line. Another argument is that people complained too much...If people are too lazy to register their numbers for the do-not-call list, do you r...

Most of those things are put to a popular vore, making it very democratic, at least it is in Ohio. That way, no one feels cheaped out.

As long as the government is going to meddle (and let's face it for every laissez faire person such as yourself there is a progressive advocating government interference) this is something that I won't cry too hard about.

It's understandable to complain when the government starts sticking their noses in things the public doesn't care for... but in this case it is definitely in the public interest to stop this harassment.

Why complain about the government when they are doing the majority that elected them a huge favor?

With a Telemarketer, You can verbally curse or mess with them on the phone. You can't do do that with Robocalls. It simply doesn't understand four letter words or jokes.

I had one telemarketer try to sell me windows. I asked him on how much I could save on my car insurance with GEICO? He said he couldn't answer that. So I answered: Well then I'm not interested in the damn Windows!

Another one tried to sell me light bulbs. I raised my voice, started to bitch and complain and explained to her that we are Amish and do not believe in the modern conveniences of life. She felt horrible so sorry for bothing us and appologized again. She said she would take us off the calling list. The funny thing is, she forgot that she called me on a phone...
