Pointless

This is most pointless thing I have ever heard. Chad and his gang have been bought out. I guess Verizon is tossing the loyal Alltel customers a bone since they will be getting all their money in the future. I have also seen BOGO on the tour at an indirect location.

How did you hear text? Anywho, in some locations Verizon has not completely taken over, South Dakota for instance, and even here in Iowa there are still Alltel stores. So I do not see how Alltel getting a new blackberry is pointless.

Yeah, did you ever hear about divested markets? Alltel is still around till someone buys them up (the divested alltel) So that's why they have new phones. All the other (actual bought out alltel stores) will just turn to verizon.

Not to mention think about the investment. For example, if you just purchased Alltel and you knew that eventually, all the Alltel will be Verizon, Shut down, or whatever. Things do take time for change, especially the in-0store business. Now if you owned only one Alltel in a city in Idaho for instance, yet that city has numerous Sprint, Att, etc..AND you knew that eventually you were gonna hange that store, wouldn't you want it to still make money for you? Remember one thing. It's not about selling the phone, but locking that customer in to a 2 year agreement with Verizon. So yea, it does make sense.

No that couldn't be farther from true this has nothing to do with locking someone into a contract before they go to verizon this is only for divested areas and once again has nothing to do with anyone who is eventually moving to verizon this deal is only for people who are divested and not moving to verizon

The Alltel BlackBerry Tour is for Divested areas. Non-Divested areas can purchase a Verizon BlackBerry Tour.

Pointless? How so?
Verizon won't be getting "all of their money in the future". This applies to all those markets that were divested (Verizon was not allowed to purchase).
Indirect or dealer locations can sell the phones for whatever they want. They buy the phones, and the subsidy is up to them to determine.
Bottom line:
The phone exists and is compatible with Alltel's network. Why would the divested Alltel company shrug off the opportunity to pull in some revenue???
The divested Alltel stores still sell phones, and will still keep their customers regardless of who's name eventually is on the building. Don't really see how that's pointless. It's a great phone and great news for their customers that might be interested in it.
