Big Question: Will It Roam On GSM Domestically?

If so, this will be a must have for truck drivers as well as world travelers, who don't necessarily want or need a smartphone.

Nope. Verizon has no GSM roaming agreements in the U.S. or Canada.

For all you CDMA subscribers, CDMA has a huge footprint in North America and has no need for GSM roaming. This phone is good for the globetrotting coporate bloodsucking vampires.

Yeah, but those corporate vampires would have to ask themselves this question..."Why the *bleep* do I want that ugly phone which will probably do nothing I really need it to do?", "Does it have UV protection?", "Does it tranform into a coffin?"

True, however there are those rare occasions where GSM actually works and CDMA doesn't. Saying that someone doesn't need additional coverage is kinda the same argument Nextel reps used to make about traveling outside your normal coverage area in general: "Why worry about not having coverage someplace you will spend less than 1% of your time?"

The reason is that more coverage is always better, not worse. Fewer coverage holes means fewer opportunities to be stranded somewhere with no signal and no other way to make a call. I'm guessing that 911 calls would work, but not calls to a wrecker or relative.
