It seems kind of odd timing for such a phone. Presumably, such a phone would be targetted towards people who travel for pleasure, not business and are just interested in a low cost way of keeping in contact with home and their fellow travellers.
With the economy the way it is, fewer people are vacationing abroad, so I don't think the demand will be what it would have been a few years ago.
Those who can afford trips to Europe and elswhere would probably be looking for a higher end phone.

Good point. I like your smooth style of addressing the topic at hand. You may one day be the next person that people ask questions to.
Slammer, I know you always hang out in the news section. Tell me a little bit about yourself, do you only hang out here in news or are you in other forums?

That was crood that posted that not Slammer.

Maybe that's why I answered Crood's post, then put Slammer's name in the subject and addressed Slammer. I don't know where he is but he's bond to turn up sometime or another.

I might not have made it clear but that's what I meant. I hate texting and I hate sell phones and cell phones and sail phones.

heres what I think. This is the first vzw cheapie quad band gsm phone right?
they are following how this has gone all along. If they plan to go gsm (sim cards to the layperson). Then you start with inexpensive phones to build a following and just move up the chain as your network rollout continues. Its all according to plan.

Good point: Fewer people might be vacationing abroad and this phone is aimed at the pleasure traveler for sure.
For years my wifes side of the family got the Cingulars and the AT&T phones because they had that ability to go global if they needed to. They still have lots of family in other countries. Verizon was never an option for them and Verizon probably lost business to those types of people. Now if they want to they can switch.
I would have loved to have seen this years ago 😁

Not really, there are alot of people that travel due to there jobs, yes even in this economy, and they dont need or want a smart phone or high end phone. They just want a phone to make calls abroad. I recently closed an biz account for 30 lines and 17 of them got the samsung renown, they absolutely would have loved to have gotten this new phone. so yes there is a market for it.
