Dear God I hope it's as fast as they say it is! I have already cancelled my home phone service, maybe now I can cancell my home internet service and pick up the little wi-fi/3G/4G box!!!

When they do get LTE fully developed, I am sure they will have a plan with a cap higher than 5 gigs. ๐
...
ahah that would suck if it was 5 gig, can you even imagin the overage ๐ฒ
...
Sprint's 4g is unlimited, i have to think they would follow suit. But then again, you never know with vzw. If they put a cap on it it would have to be more than 5 gig

Hey, aren't the 20 LTE sites VZW has larger than Sprint's 4G network?

what sprint realeased like 20+ cities by 2010

Dude, it's still 2009...
...
true i will state that verizen does atm have a good 4g network i hope that sprint and verizen will both creat a great netwrk so that roaming alliances can be formed for 4g to cover a more broad aread of cities, i can hope, i would say lets see what att and tmob do, but they are late in game to start this
...
No, Verizon & Sprint's 4G networks can't roam off each other. Verizon uses LTE and Sprint uses WiMax, 2 completly different technologies.
...
Wimax and LTE are different from each other, but close enough to where if LTE is a better choice than Wimax Sprint could easily convert its wimax network to LTE.
...
This would be correct! However, More importantly is the fact that the two technologies are so closely related, that they are technically interoperable. This means that the two can "Talk" to each other. Unlike GSM Vs CDMA. The ONLY reason Sprint would need to change to LTE, is if WiMAX is not panning out for them.
This brings to light an interesting war here in the states. VZW is the nations largest carrier, Their aggressive rollout of LTE should be attributed due to the pressure of Sprint/Clearwire. Where VZW is dominant of native voice calling and 3G access, Sprint/Clearwire actually own more spectrum allocated for 4G. This means coverage arguments could change dramatically once Sprint's network is complete. VZW really had to move on th...

Didn't Vzw win more spectrum in the auctions last year?
...
Yes they did. I believe this gave VZW a close second. But the point is that spectrum for 4G is very valuable and Sprint/Clearwire now have something that is worth quite a bit in this next step of communications. So anyone can say what they will, but Sprint is in a very good position to negate any arguments of coverage that may have plagued them. What Verizon has done is acquired The 700mhz spectrum which is better for building penetration. This is prime spectrum. Sprint's 2.5ghz is an asset for pure power of transmitting data. But to make my overall point is that Sprint and Verizon will now be the top players in 4G. This is huge for Sprint and subscribers alike.

Im sold. I think I'll go buy sprint stock ๐
...
The 2.5 ghz spectrum gained from Nextel is the one good thing Sprint garnered from the 'merger'.

It's nice to see someone else out there with a bit more technical knowledge of what's going on, Slammer. You make some good points.
The two technologies do share some similarities, but the OFDMA similarities only exist on the downlink side (cell site --> handheld) where the uplink transmissions (handheld --> cell site) are completely different encoding. I can't say I know "how big" a problem it would be to switch over from one tech to the other, but it wouldn't be easy by any stretch of the imagination.
So, they can't really "talk" to each other- they can only "listen" to each other...
The other huge problem is that 2.5 GHz antennae will not read 700 MHz transmissions or vice versa. Even if Sprint or Verizon did change 4G encodi...

read.... there are 2 cities and 20 CELL sites for verizons LTE network and thats not even live yet so that means no cust can use it yet..thus still 0 coverage... ๐คจ
