Its a shame. Even if they clean up this mess, the bad taste in peoples mouths can only be watered down but so much. They might never fully recover from this either way.

And thats only if they truly are innocent.

That's what they get for using people with criminal records as their marketing group. Maybe they were preemptive in announcing their products?

The FCC can dig deeper into criminal backgrounds then say a company like Zer01 can. It could very well be that they didn't know of such criminal records. I wont fault them for hiring the criminals, I will however fault them for not noticing the problem before the FCC did. If it was my business, I would have asked questions long before anyone else did.

I don't know about the bad taste. It only extends to the informed-technorati. I think the general public and businesses won't even notice this little blip on the radar.

However, those that supposedly had signed agreements and possibly even invested in it are screwed. I feel for them, the misrepresentation was from top to bottom on this one.

Criminal record is public record. If a reporter can get at the information, so can Zer01. However...

It is not typical to perform actual criminal background checks on executives of your suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, etc. In fact, frankly, i have never heard of such a thing...nor have I done such a thing. If you do proper due diligence, it should be plenty enough. (and doing quick due diligence on burzzirk/etc does introduce a lot of disturbing red flags)

If Zer01 was completely innocent in this and was taken in by some scammers at CTIA (probable), it wouldn't be the first time a company was taken in by a scam.

From the looks of it, Zer01 has some pretty greenhorn management to just let these guys walk in and try to tur...

All this rage against prior convicted criminals is a bit over the top here. Do you realize, that if you've ever had a speeding ticket, and nothing else, you have an arrest record, and if you paid the fine, or accepted a guilty verdict or plea, you're a convicted criminal? Let's not be so overzealous as to throw the baby out with the bathwater. There are quite a few "criminals" out there that do a lot of good work, and don't have any issues, like any normal person.

Business usually don't go to deep into each other's boards, and they shouldn't feel the need. I wouldn't have, since I know that I have the backdoor of a lawsuit for a settlement. I think the reason that this is just coming to light, is that Zer01 took this company on good ...

I had been contacted by these guys (Buzzirk) and asked them questions about the service area in North Dakota and what company they were buying time from. They didn't know how spotty sprint/nextel is in ND so I blew them off. Glad I did.

Actually they used AT&T which is even worse at the moment in ND, sorry I was a little misinformed.
