Give it up Sprint...

Your 4G network won't save you with your crappy customer service and highest churn in the industry. Everyone is buying G1's, iphones and your hoodrats that used to be on Boost now left for T-Mo to get a sidekick.

Give it up before it's too late. You're gonna go bankrupt. You know damn well you don't have the money to implementing these markets with your WiMax. What do you think the customers will come pouring in out of nowhere??? Who's gonna pay to maintain your network, Sprint? Not your exisiting customers. They're all on SERO plans thats why your asses aren't making any money!

You think the masses are gonna give up their iPhones, G1's, Sidekicks for a stupid Palm Pre to deal with awful customer service and billing problems???

Wow I don’t even have to rebut what you have said 🤣 your post was so hateful no one will really take it seriously.

It was filled with all the hatred and ignorance that I would expect from some one who has the name “cellfoneluva”.

I think that Sprint will be fine, but this rant isn't far from having some merit. They're asking investors for money to keep their debt in order (which happens to be 21 Billion). WiMax needs to be big for them, because once everyone goes to LTE, they will be the odd man out. The SERO plan problem is huge, too. Outside of that issue, they have 100,000 plus customers on some price plan that is $2.50 for 1000 minutes. The WiMax expansion is cool, but problems STILL do linger

Dont "You People" read or learn anything? Wimaxx will be used for waaay more things then cellular service. LTE will only be cell service.

So it doesnt matter how many people will just leave to get LTE. they will still have Wimaxx in some aspect of their lives.

they might...but WiMax is a standard that is going to be super inexpensive, very shortly. All the other carriers are going to use LTE to re-rape everybody. Sprint's economic viability is in question, here...and it's a good question to bring up.

LTE initially will be primarily for data.

For sure...but you gotta look at this with a bigger scope. Sprint loses 250,000 subs a quarter. How are they stop the bleeding? Wimax isn't going to be the answer...

Actually wimax is a solution. The problem in the wireless industry is that pretty much every person out there has a cell phone. How do I get people to buy more services when they already have it?

This is the key to wimax. It is not meant as cell service. Wimax it an isp. It does not compete against tmob Cingular and vzw. What it does compete against is cable broadband and dsl. By adding a wireless isp to its line up sprint has opened the door to millions of customers. Wimax is cheep and convenient. It will add isp customers which can help to aliviate the loss of the afore mentioned 250,000 customers a quarter.

On the wireline versus Wimax battle, it should help. The problem is that companies are running from Wimax like the plague. A good example would be a line from this interview with the CTO of Ericsson:

he feels 4G isn’t a true wireless technology — all while laying the smack down on WiMAX.”There are 400 million people using 3G (HSDPA/WCDMA) technologies today,” he said. “There will be 70 million people using WiMAX in five years.” And by then, of course, Long Term Evolution (LTE), the 4G wireless technology, will be the de facto standard thanks to the patronage of large phone companies such as Verizon, Vodafone and AT&T, Ericsson hopes.

If your so into looking up information dan hesse has already said they are going to be getting LTE in the future also. And he is talking about 5 years, i guarantee there will be better technology by then, just 4-5 years ago we were introducing 3g.

Well VZW just figured out how to do a CDMA to LTE handoff. That's today...not 5 years down the road. Sprint has to depend on Clear being viable enough to build out their 4G network. Clear investors aren't too certain as to whether that is going to happen smoothly.

Actually, after a combined 35 years of service with VZW, my wife and I switched to Sprint, got the same service as VZW in our market, and for half what VZW was charging us!

Not a bad trade, and phone, email and chat help has been quite good, much to my surprise.

So you guys drinking the KoolAid keep supporting VZW. I am excited to see WiMax supported in areas I need it and travel in. LTE can wait for me. Thank you!

BTW, I am a professional and don't need consumer toys like the iPhoney nor a half-baked OS like G1.
