Senate Greenlights Jamming Cell Signals Near Prisons
Dangerous
But at the same time i don't want them controlling where i can use my cellphone, cause they could get out of hand with this idea.
none of us want that .... 😛
This is a government security area, and should be kept as such. If I went onto a military base, I'd expect rules such as this as well.

I'm a officer with New York State dept. of Corrections ( 24 years) . We CANNOT have or even use a cell phone while on duty. Its is a firing offense. The only cell phones we use are state issue OUTSIDE the prison when transporting or working with outside inmate work crews ect. Fact !
Thanks for the good information, so that means all those phones inside are illegal, pass a law, 5 years extension to one's sentence with no parole for having one. 15 years for anyone smuggling one in. If that doesn't work in a few years, then lets re-visit the blockage plan.
I think the real issue with inmates getting their hand on a cell phone is security within the prison. Communicating with the outside is easy. their allowed too, Land line, letters, visits and legal visits. But cell phones can be used to organize within or prison to prison. This is a security issue. Now factor in your growing future domestic terror issue. Their being grown in our prisons.

This argument is like saying you don't want restrictions on what types of guns you can purchase. Why do you care if a prision can't use cell service plan on serving time?
What does guns have to do with cell phones, makes no sense. Last I checked an iphone or blackberry didn't mow down kids in school. Keep it to the point.

If we allow jamming for prisons we start down a very slippery slope. I don't want the government to be telling me where I can and can't use my cell phone.
Well...thank goodness they aren't telling YOU where YOU can use YOUR phone!!! They're telling the prisoners where THEY CAN'T use THEIR phones! That way, the prisoners can call, from behind the wall, and order some other people to murder you and your family. We started down a slippery slope when we let idiots drive and have cell phones....
Besides...if it is on government property you, by definition of entering said property, agree to their rules. Ever drive on a military base? Their sandbox, their rules. Don't like it? Stay...
