What is the definition of 3G?

I can tell you that in order for a network to be considered "TRUE" 3G, it has to be Video Call capable and have the ability to support Voice and Data usage at the same time.

T-MO is just barely dabbling in 3G... AT&T being the largest 3G carrier has every right to challenge the verbage in VZWs ad. That's business!

AT&T claims to be the largest 3G carrier. Verizon claims to be the most reliable and largest 3G carrier. If AT&T wants Verizon to stop advertising like that then they themselves need to stop claiming to be the largest 3G network and they need to stop claiming to have the most coverage worldwide. Verizon has just as many roaming agreements as AT&T.

Please refer to what the definition of a 3G Wireless Network is.

The point I believe AT&T is trying to make is VZW is not on a "true" 3G network, and therefore should not misrepresent their products & services. It may be 3G "comparable" with regards to Data Download/Upload speeds but it is NOT a 3G network.

With regards to the "Most Coverage World Wide" advertising, the reason VZW has not contested that is simple... the ad is FACT!

Also, VZW has in fact protested AT&T ads in the past... why do you think AT&T stopped the "Fewest Dropped Calls" slogan for "More Bars In More Places"? Granted a couple carriers got on that band wagon... Nevertheless, as I said before it all business.

Your so called "definition" is wrong. The ITU set the IMT-2000 standard, which defines 3G. IMT-2000 certifies both W-CDMA & EV-DO, among other airlinks, as 3G.

So, please sit down & shut up until you are more knowledgeable. Of course, if sales reps truly understood the technology they sell, then they would not be stuck as sales reps. They would be engineers.
