TracFone Debuts $45 Unlimited Plan Via StraightTalk
Unlimited talk, data and messaging with a Razr....*pukes*
I guess since then network coverage has improved enough, and their customer base must have upgraded their handsets often enough to migrate them all over to Verizon's network. It's probably more efficient (and cost effective) to have one agreement in place as opposed to two, don't you think?

Actually, "for the longest time" Tracfone was a mixed bag. It really depended on where you purchased a handset...that determined whether you were operating on Verizon's network, or Cingular's. This is the reason that some phones were GSM capable, and some were CDMA capable.

They will continue to be, as neither carrier offers coverage everywhere.

They use verizon towers (so they are CDMA) but they don't use Verizon phones.
A nice 2.2 or 2.4 Qvga screen, keyboard, decent camera. A phone that does not scream trac phone
They blew it.

The marketing people at Trac Phone blew it. If they knew that they were coming out with a unlimited talk, text, data plan, to get in the price war, then they should have had a $99 qwerty phone to go with it. Soemthing they could market with the plan.

The average John Doe could care less about those features. I predict this will be big!

Saving money is just as important as saving face to some people. To pull out a quality, nice looking phone in public is important to some people.
Look at this thread, The first thing people wrote about was that they had 3 crapping phones to choose from. The guy on cnet commented on the phones available to this plan. Yes, what phones look like, and what features they have matter. So putting out a quality qwerty phone with this plan would have been a big P.R. win for Trac Phone.
They will win on price, but what good does it do for their customers to pay for something that you can not enjoy. That's all I'm saying.

Verizon has sold millions of not so cool phone ...

Verizon, even if it's a pay as you go phone, is not the same as pulling out a Trac Phone.
Sorry, but that is just the way it is.
If I was running their P.R. I would have had a 20 something, sitting and texting on his all black smart phone looking qwerty phone.

Why? Does it matter who is right? Are you out to prove something? With $45 unlimited everything everyone is a winner. Who cares about it, if you did win this stupid who is right battle what would it mean? Do you get a muffin or something?
Two, actually.

I could also get my parents off their $48 dollar a month plan that only ...

The service is on the second tier of the Verizon service. Look at Verizons coverage map and then check out Straight Talks. The coverage is spotty at best outside of large cities. When you prepay for cheap service, that is exactly what you get... CHEAP SERVICE.
I would simply like to say, out of all the posts and responses on this thread, this is by far the best and most unbias. At the end of the day....you get what you pay for. That includes service, coverage and customer service. Thank you for yout time.
