First of all, there is no way to buy a phone or service online. The company has started their way into the wireless industry on the back of a MLM plot. A very easy way to get a bunch of people on the service to get a cash and leave (they might not though). I first was introduced to Zer01 by a confernce call with Buzzirk Mobile and MLM group that does a bunch of marketing stuff to their "flock". Zer01 sold the services at first for only $70 but under buzzirk its $80, but its ok cause they got to make a cut somehow. I degress, when I was on the conference call these guys where talking about these is a revoltionary product, it 5G technolgy...you can watch movie, 100 tv channels, crap, crap, crap. How in the world did they get to 5G if 4G jus...

I don't know about your first paragraph, but I already have to pay full price for phones if I want full Internet and email access.

For people who need unlimited voice+data, maybe saving $50/month over the major carriers' highest plans with Internet is going to make up for having to pay $200 extra for a phone.

That's not correct, they are other "real" companies that provide unlimited everything for much cheaper; like Boost Mobile. Zer01 is casting their bets on the data side of AT&T will work well and hearing complaints from other who use Skype on the data side of AT&T the service sucks. Plus the only way to get any of their phones is thru a multi level marketing scheme. If you want to jump in water friend, go right ahead. I just hope you have saved some of that extra $200 you are paying to buy a life jacket ;)

So there are even better deals out there where you have to pay a no-contract price for phones. So what?

That doesn't make your original claim any better, when you said that the phones are too expensive. If you think the rate is too expensive, or you think the whole system is a scam, just say that. But buying unlocked phones is done all the time.

This is what I am saying.

1. The phones have to be Windows Mobile phones, "smart phone" only making the price very expensive. There is no contract so the customer will be paying the full cost of the phone, plus the companies profit, which is ok. But it will make it hard for the average person to get one of these phones/plans. Why, assume the cheapest phone cost $250, plus you have to pay for the first month bill upfront ($80), and one time activation fee of $39, so you are out of pocket $370 to start. Kinda steep. If you buy a Boost Mobile phone at the same rate you can spend $50 on a phone and pay roughly six months of service with the rest ($50 per month divided by the $300 you spent on the phone and activation fees).

2. Yes my

You are missing the point, its not about the ability for a phone to be unlocked. The company is running a voip service thru a cellular phone, you will only be using the data side of the phone only so the quality will suck. And the market is very small. the average american person does not own an unlock data phone. And still you are not able to purchase a phone yet! I beg you to try to purchase a phone today, go ahead, I'll give you 24 hours, as a matter of fact you most likely have an unlocked data phone...try to get it activated today...I'll even pay for the first month service...

And yes, they have a scam-looking sales system. Maybe it just isn't implemented yet, but currently there is only ONE Zer01 reseller (Buzzirk), and when you go to Buzzirk, they want you to be a reseller for them.

This isn't always a scam. Sometimes it is, other times it is just a stupid idea.

But none of that means there is no market for service-only phone service.

Please, Don't ever mention Boost as a reference to awesome deals for 50 bucks. Apparently you do not work in the cellular business or lack the knowledge of other carriers if you do.
