I'm not sure that is actually correct. The seat may be reserved for democrats (or "democratic politicians") to sit in it, but the seat itself is not "democratic". e.g., it's a "dog house", not a "dogly house".

I see what you mean, but Republicans generally use the phrase "Democrat Party" as an insult. I guess if the article had said "Republic Seat and Democrat Seat" it could be correct.

They aren't called "republic seats" because the republicans don't call themselves "republics".

If the democrats called themselves "Democratics," then it would be consistant. They do call themselves "the democratic party," but don't use the -ic for their title as members.

"Democrat party" is incorrect, so correct people when they say that.

www.democrats.org

Website for the Democratic Party.

And no, it is not used as an "insult" It may be used out of context or used out of ignorance but the word change is not used as an "insult".

The WSJ article got the context right. You got it wrong. Did you do it because you wanted to insult someone? You just got it wrong because as a democrat yourself (guessing by the attemtped insult of Fox) you don't even know the correct usage.

Bleeding Heat Liberal might be a more common insult. Tree Hugger is a common one too.
