if that were the case then wouldn't they give some of that "monetary damage" to the people who actually got the telemarketing calls? 😉

I don't care if I was to get any of the money in the suit, just getting rid of those parasites and make them hurt is good enough for me.

Personally I wish there would be criminal as well as civil penalties. A few months or a year in some prison would slow this nonsense down. And please, I don't want to hear, well I didn't know? Its your business and job to know!

While I don't use VZW, I have to say loud and clear! WAY TO GO!!!!!!!!

Glad to read that someone is doing something... I was laughing at the voice message when I was told that my car warranty was about to expire.... It is 34 years old.... My DD is a motorcycle.

One day I decided to pick up the call and let then go thru the sales punch.... of course when they heard the year of my vehicle, the sales person was quite upset about loosing their time, and when I asked to be taken of the list they hang up.

No, Verizon loves the profits from their customers. They could care less who the customer is, just show them the money.

These kind of robo dialers (with spoofed call back numbers, no less) are illegal. They should all go to jail.
I had one call my Nextel, then Sprint then AT&T lines from different numbers (all fake). I asked the last one for a call back number in case I got dropped 😉 and they hung up on me.

I reported it to the donotcall.gov site.

Idiot. They didn't sell their customer's information. The telemarketers are dialing all numbers. I got called by these guys twice and my sister (she has AT&T) also got calls from these guys. If anyone in my family had a Sprint, T-Mobile or NexTel I'm sure those would've received the same spam.

one of the dumbest posts I've seen on phonscoop in a while.

It's too bad their isn't a shred of truth to that or maybe, and I mean just maybe, your post wouldn't be pointless.

These "robo-dialers" don't use and don't need customer info, they auto dial numbers.

Dumbass. 🙄

There is a small shred of truth to that post. Unfortunately it's so miniscule it hardly matters. Verizon does sell customer information, but they sell it in the form of trend reports: customers with LG phones or who live in a certain area or have a certain voice or data plan or calling habits tend to do behavior X. Company Y who sells a product that can help with behavior X buys that information and tries to use it to increase their sales. But by the time those reports reach the buyers, they've been scrubbed clean of any customer identifying info.

But the telemarketers who are doing this are using autodialers and are b...

VZW has been going after these companies for quite some time now for both calls and text/pix messaging. Several businesses have been shuttered because of the law suits. There have been some monetary rewards which have all been donated to different non-profit organizations
