It is about time. I hope it gets passed.

It is all about freedom of this and that in this great nation. How can people say they are free when they can't even get the cell phone they want with their choice of cell phone provider?

How free are you?

do you understand a competitive marketplace? exclusivity in technology drive the comsumer to one carrier or another. Do you think AT&T, with rights to the iphone is the best choice for you? then go to AT&T. If you like Verizons service, find a comparable phone on cdma.

no. AT&T has the right and freedom to cut a lucative exclusive deal with Apple to make money. you say you understand a competitve marketplace, but you want to take away all uniqueness from phones. how long do you think innovation will continue when every phone has no unique features?

I'm with Verizon now and the only reason I'm still with them is due to the customer service and network. The problem is that I can't find a comparable smartphone in Verizon's poor bottom of the barrel offerings.

I hope this passes as it will force Verizon to open up the network (such as being able to buy a Sprint Touch Pro and put it on Verizon's network).

You do realize that there will be NO DISCOUNTS on any phone if this passes. The iPhone which is what you probably want would cost you between $500 & $700. Next time your checking out phones take a look at the price before discounts and that's the price you'll be paying for your phones. There will be no reason for the carriers to offer discounts on phones you can take anywhere.
