Carrier Exclusivity is BAD

Carrier exclusivity is a bad idea and is bad for the consumer. Consumers in the US should have the choice of phones like the rest of the world does. Phone companies would have to compete for your business by having a better network, more coverage, more 3g, better customer service. I live in an area where at&t has no 3g coverage and weak voice coverage and Verizon and Sprint have great 3g and voice coverage. I would love to have an iphone but it would be pretty useless with the lack of data (except for wifi) and poor reception.

In Europe, for the most part, you can buy whatever phone you want and choose what carrier you want. I don't think that's a bad thing. Manufacturers could make 2 versions of each phone, gsm or cdma and customers c...

Yeah in Europe they also pretty much ONLY run GSM, not CDMA (which is why the Storm can be called a world phone, because it runs GSM as well as Sprints CDMA) I can see the possibility of a GSM phone being avail across all GSM networks and the same with CDMA, but only a handful of the higher priced ones running both, especially with UMA (I always forget if thats right, UMA, GMA some crap like that) around the corner. Its a pipe dream, something they're doing just to get some spotlight as being "defenders of the American Citizen" nothing more, especially with the money that rolls in from lobbyists.

Yes, because the American consumer will pay the unsubsidized cost of the phone for their little 9 year old brat. Rolling Eyes

You know very little about the industry in the US and absolutely nothing about the industry out side the US. You want it to be like Europe? Did you know in Europe the majority of consumers can not afford a voice plan? Most of them are forced to text. And no one I mean no one gets a free phone. They all have to pay for the phone them selves. Are you willing to pay 600$ for your iphone? Or 400$ for your black berry? If you are then are different then the rest of the consumers in the united states.

You also stated you wanted to be like the rest of the world and use any gsm phone you want. The truth is if you are on ATT or T-Mobile you can, but no body does. You know why? Because no one wants to pay $$$ for a phone when they can get one for ...

I guess you are just a blow hard. Razr a turd, well I sold many many of them, both gsm and cdma and most are still running just fine.In the 20 years I've sold phones the Razr was the best selling phone ever and one of the least returned. I'm not going to argue with you because based on your other posts you are a know it all Republican, I'm a Democratic Socialist and we will desagree. I lived in Europe for quite awhile and I would like us to be more like them. They don't let their citizens die in the streets or let their hospitals dump patients that can't pay or let companies take advantage of consumers...and they do have free cell phones.

Maybe I should have been more clear. I worked on the service and repair side of the cell phone industry for 3 years while the razor was popular. The reason I said the razor was a turd is due to the fact it comes in for service on average 2-3 times more often then other phones. The signal is by far inferior. And the software was soooooooooo slow it would take 10-20 times longer then the average Samsung or lg to navigate menus. And of course they were defective more then any other phone. Compared to any Samsung or lg the razor is a T U R D turd. Now I suppose if I was in a kiosk in the mall and selling Panasonic or semons phones as well as moto phones I would think moto is the bomb, but that would more so be due to the fact of lack of experien...

This has nothing to do w/ technologies used. Once subsidy's are removed from wireless phones a'la EU, then can Senators ask for whatever the heck they want. Exclusivity won't mean sh** on a device that costs $600USD+

under your line of thought then wouldn't having a choice of CDMA or GSM be a bad thing. And while were at it lets have the governemnt choose what plan we should be on no matter what we actually use. Hell lets throw out rollover because no one else has it. Evil or Very Mad

Yeah....I really dislike the iphone there are many things that are terrible about it, and lots of features it doesnt have that should be standard, personally if I dont get coverage everywhere and be able to use my features everywhere whats the point in having a phone that cant call...or a advanced device that cant retrieve my email? The point is every carrier has different things that are cool, AT&T gets the "cool phone award" Verizon gets "the our stuff works everywhere award" and sprint/t-mobile get the im good in major cities only award...if im a phone manufacturer, or carrier there is something to be gained by not releasing these devices everywhere....competition, limiting releases to one carrier promotes competition...not hinder it...t...
